P0068... Why?

I am running a 3" pulley and plugs. I ran the pulley for 5k miles or so before changing the plugs. Installed the colder plugs now I keep throwing P0068, along with limp mode, when under hard acceleration (MAF Sensor/Throttle Position Correlation).
Any Ideas?

Does it stop if you put the old plugs back in?

There's a discussion I've been having with some HP Tuners owners. The car has a table that describes how much air it will take in for a given rpm and such. The Volumetric Efficency (VE) table. Now typically, this is what a car will use with it's MAF sensor fails. Remember Alpha talking about removing his MAF sensor and he could drive around?

I think, the MAF sensor, the Throttle position, and the VE table is what's being compared to set that code, which causes limp mode. I started getting the P0068 when I dropped to the 2.8" pulley. Also, I notice in HP Tuners that my actual MAF values are quite a bit higher than the VE table predicts they'll be by 5500 rpms. When it sees the car taking in 'too much' air, it thinks there's a problem with the car. Since it thinks there should be this much air coming in, for this throttle position, something is wrong. In this case, nothing is wrong, but it's a pass/fail system.

None of that really answers your question though! I've actually turned off the P0068 code on my car everyone else who I've 'tuned'.

Actually that makes alot of sense. It may just be the reason this is happening and the changing of the plugs was just a coincidence.

So Spoon, if we can adjust the VE tables, then theoretically, we can tune for the increased airflow from the K&Ns and see the REAL gains, huh?

Socal - the more the merrier...removing a S/C, possibly TWO intakes, maybe a third now...
