Well, $10 around here is about 4-5 gallons. So that's like 80-100 miles of driving at 20 mpg. I'm using about $6 a day for my 60 mile round trip, plus afterwork tooling around. So that's around 3-4 gallons. What's your gas rate like? Gas here was $2.37 2 days ago, it just dropped down the $2.22.

Hey all,

Just an update from my nice weekend trip. A 95% highway trip netted me 28.6 MPG with the cruise on at 65-67. I still am using and will continue to use 89 octane gas. No pinging, no noticeable power loss, and the same smooth powerband. (I had the ECU reflash done last month). The car is still breaking in, as it just eclipsed 4,000 miles today.

I do expect it to get better on average as it continues to break in...
And maybe I'll actually start to drive it hard one of these days.

Enjoy the road.
Erik

I filled up my tank again yesterday and last tank, i got almost 22mpg. The car only has 1350mi on it so far, so I'm expecting it to get even better yet (not to mention I still like to go out and play in it )

If you're getting 28.9 then I wouldn't expect to get more mpg than that. I do seem to notice my mileage going up, I was in the low 20's, now this week I'm into the mid-20's. Just under 3,000 miles so far.

I would like to race someone with 89 in the car though. I put 89 in and got less mpg (19 compared with 23 the next day), and thought there was no power loss. Then I put 93 back in and an hour later realized that it was less smooth, the car also broke the tires loose alot easier in 2nd gear. Felt like more power in the engine, just less smooth. If you like it, and it works good for you, right on. Maybe I'm fooling myself into thinking it's slower, but I'm still going with the 91 or better as the manual reccommends.

I'm still getting 24-25 mpg, been that way since I bought it new. Never saw an increase or decrease.

ANd I'm up to 8200 miles on the odo.

I have had it anywhere from 18mpg(while having alittle fun) to this one time I was on this interstate going about 55mph and i got over 33mpg. I usually drive much faster but that was the speed limit and its the same road responsible for my probation.... long story.

With about 2800 miles on an '05, last three highway trips have gotten 25.5mpg with cruise set to 80mph, and actual ground speed around 70mph (example: 283 miles in 4.0 hours)... bursts up to 100-110mph during passing. My old '97 SW2 wagon would get around 29 to 31mpg under same conditions (but not nearly as much fun to drive).
