Eaton M62 - all created equal?

If so, I'm all over this and having it rebuilt/ported by Steig

As far as I know, the 3800 series have always used the Eaton M90, not the M62. Steig does port M62's though .

I think the early 3800s used the M62. Either way, no that will not work on our car since the blower is specific to this application.

The GTPs never had the M62. The Series I 3800 had the M62 blower but those were used in a few cars prior to 1997 (Pontiac Bonneville SSE & SSEi, Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight LSS, Buick Park Avenue Ultra, Buick Riviera). When the Series II 3800 debuted in the GTP in 1997 it had the M90.
