2.4L auto tranny Ion: what else can i do?

Ok i am throwing up another one of these threads to see if i can get some suggestions....
I have a 2.4L ion coupe........ (2007 btw. so its stock 175 hp)

for performance
I have a Fujita Coid air intake on it

SMS big bore throttle body (which only opened it up another millimeter, they say thats all they can do on them...

Thermal catback exhaust system.

for handling I have
Progress lowering springs

SMS front strut tower brace.

Basically i want more HP without going forced induction.
Id like the best handling ect I can get as well

Things id like to get in the future:
Progress rear sway bar
Powerslot rotors and Hawk performance brake pads...

Any other suggestions for HP increase?
I have a auto tranny so somethings i just cant get, but i found out the exhaust ports on it are the SAME as the redline so i could get some redline headers and hi flow cat on it....
Could i do a lightweight underdrive pulley on it?

There are a few companies tuning the 2.4L in the Cobalts. You should check out the CobaltSS .net site since there are a lot more 2.4's there. They even have their own performance section.

Starting price of a 2.4 ICQ is 12000 I guess. So how to make it like a IRL? Well, let's see. After you add the super/turbo charger with all the crap that goes with it...Intercooler intake set up, ect.. 4 wheel disk and replacing the hub assemblies(5 lug) and all wheel disk, pod, spring rates and struts. Limited slip with equal axles, wheels and tires, tuning, seats. You could buy 2 IRLs. Just leave it alone and drive it.

How about you post information relevant to the thread and question. He didn't ask for you opinion on what car he should have gotten.

i dont think there is much that you can do to get more power out of it N/A, doesnt it also have vvt? You would probably be good getting a race head, with bigger valves , comp cams, etc. might cost you a pretty penny.

LOL! Yeah right, you're way off. You can't even get an QC2 with the 2.2 and manual and no options for that.

Honesly you're going to only gain so much off bolt-on parts, and the truth is you're not going to gain all that much. 10-15 hp, maybe 20 if you're lucky. If you want real hp you're going to have to go with some sort of forced induction. There's go to be someone out there making tubo kits for the Solstices and Skys. Just get one of those kits and reroute the charge pipes to work on the Ion.

Max. I wasn't trying to be an ass. Just pointing out that it is nuts to spend bucks on a car that will way exceed the value. Yeah I know people do it everyday. Let's look at things in a few perspectives..

Situation #1: You bought a old ricer for 500 bucks and you wanted to make it a drifter like a 240. I could see putting bucks in to the car if you could afford it.

Situation #2: Your leasing or buying a new car and going through school or going through a life event that long term funds are a issue. Most likely won't be keeping it long. Why bother doing anything to it? Have fun with it, buy a house, get married and have kids. Love your kids, buy books for school and buy a Porsche later.

Situation #3. Fulley involved in the car and racing. Redlines like some other cars will be collector items. I plan on keeping mine 1 of 250 and buying another daily driver soon. Since my kids are out of the house college, ect. I can afford to spend things the way I want. Yeah, I could afford a Porsche, they are a dime a dozen here. I don't hafta worry about cash that much but retirement and seem to have that under control.

To sum it up, 2.4's are great cars, just be happy with it. In a few years when you get tired of it, you will get more bucks out of it trading it in stock. Example: I got 1000 more than my 04 Ion2 was worth for the trade in because it was imaculate, had all the maintance records and kept it stock.
