Lug Nuts...

For whatever reason, the tire-swap at the track kicked my ass yesterday. I think I jacked up at least 3 lug nuts, between the two sides. So, I'm looking to replace them - maybe all the way around, I dunno.

What should I be looking for exactly? Size/specs/type/etc?

Are you running steel seat rims for drag tires? You should have an extra set anyway. I don't mix lugs that have been on steel with aluminum. If the lug gets galled or grooved it will trash the aluminum seats (e.g. stock rims).

And I think they're 12mm but I haven't confirmed that yet. I need to buy a set myself for the winter wheels.

I got a pair of 16" Catera rims...aluminum, I'm guessing.

Never thought about a "race" set of lugs, but the problem started with taking them OFF before the swap, so I still woulda trashed 'em, either way.

Guess I'll hit up a Pep Boys/Auto Zone...although, with the car being shipped to FL tomorrow or Tuesday, I guess I've got some time.

Man I just replaced the one I jacked up today...ended up being really easy, and only cost $4.39
(Catch) The only problem is that no parts stores carry ANYTHING for our car, so I ended up using the cobalt stud and a cobalt lugnut.
The best thing to do is to replace the studs and get wheel locks for all four tires, then you'll have all original lugs and one left over. Thats what im gonna do whenever I get a chance to do my brakes. Hit me up if you need a better explaination.

My Cateras have steel inserts. You've got a different style though so they might not. You are definetely better off with more durable nuts for the race wheels. The originals have stainless sleeves on them for appearance and they don't stand up to frequent torqueing. I'll probably go with Gorrilla lugs - about $30 on ebay. They use a splined socket that holds up well.

I don't have a problem getting the gorillas...just need to verify the size, and it'll be done.

I work at Americas Tire co. & I know that the stock lugs suck. If you want you can go there & they will lo0k it up for you. Lugs are like a buck a piece and we have the spline type that use a key so for a set of 25 & a key yor looking at $25. Go there or discount tire, same thing.
