SOB!! I want an LNF. O well, they are rated at what? 260bhp? We're somewhat close to that. But I think the turbo has a larger potential bc it is easier to swap...

o well.. I still say whipple!

Considering the Redline isn't suppose to be made in 2008 [hell the 2007's are slim], I don't see how true this can be.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is going to be for the 08 Cobalt SS/SC and Pontiac G5 GXP. A turbo swap WILL NOT be as easy as usual on these motors because they are twin scroll. Also note me previous concerns about the maximum flow of the direct injection system, not to mention, we don't know what PCM changes are going to occur. From my understanding, the 6-speed trans also had a WORSE setup for gearing. Not that all these things can't be done, it's just going to be harder and more expensive.

If anything they'll change the body of them is all. Seeing the G5 was just brought into the US market I think the cars are staying around for a while, different body or not. I think they might redesign the ION since GM is starting to produce the cobalt's at the Saturn plant where the ION is made...and to think some people don't believe they're really the same car underneath!

ION Production ends September 1st. The Opel Astra is being brought to the U.S. to Replace the ION.

WTH would these be going longitudinal? Would it actually be able to fit?

Unless they were going to be AWD, I don't see too much point in changing the layout of the engine.

Bingo. The ION line is DONE. No redesigning, nothing, it's gone.

Also, there is zero info about a G5 GXP being made anytime soon. Not saying it won't happen, but they haven't shown any interest in making one yet. If the Cobalt SS S/C sells well, why would you make another that LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME CEPT THE GRILL AND TAIL LIGHTS [and of course interior colours/trim].
Chevy has the Corvette and no other GM corporation has a "relative" of it, maybe they are making Chevy get the LSJ for themselves too.

Note: stainless steel fuel system. (see above)

GM is producing a flex fuel 2.0L ecotec turbo in the near future, this has the possibility of trickling down from Saab to us, eventually.

Also, the AWD Ion RL rally car isn't JUST a demo of what GM can do, there are plans in the works for the next cobalt platform to have AWD available.

AWD is the future, if you don't make AWD versions of your smaller performance cars, you'll lose sales. If you want to compete with Subaru and Mitsu, you better get AWD.

This is very true for those people who live in area's that get winters...as good torque, good power lightweight vehicles in winter are not as much fun as they sound.
