Arrow Police Encounters in Redline

Well... It was my 2 day driving my awesome 2005 Ion Redline, and I got pulled over by Ohio State Patrol (Easter Sunday). My insurance hadn't even transfered over yet!!! I was accelerating onto I-75 and a truck was right in front of me, so I switch into the left lane. At that point, I really didn't have time to think... The cop was parked in front of me in the median, and I was going damn near 80. Strangely, my radar detector did not beep once.

When he came to my window, I explained how the car got away from me off the on-ramp," throwing in sympathy phrases like "stupid supercharger!" I really was quite distraught at the moment, and truly am not used to the incredible speed this car has.

AMAZINGLY, this officer let me off with a verbal warning (Something usually unheard of by Ohio State Highway Patrol). His radar may have not been on, but regardless, I learned a lesson.

If anyone else has any interesting stories along this line... feel free to share!!

I had a close one the other day, I was trying to egg on (easter humor) this newer model GTO and took it up past 80 and low and behold there was a cop in the median. I looked in my rear-view mirror for him to pull onto the highway for atleast 2-3 miles. I saw nothing, I'm not sure if he figured it was too busy and crowded to pull into traffic or maybe he figured it was the holiday season and everyone was in a rush. Either way, I lucked out.

I had a similar run-in, here in Dayton. More like Northern Dayton, in Butler Township. I live near Dayton Int'l and I was on my way home from work. I live a little out in the sticks, but still Township turf. There's a small FD station on the left on fredrick about a 2 miles from my house. That's where the Butler smokies always camp out. I'm rollin about 60 in a 50, I slow to 55 nearing the station. Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. Well, ol' smoky was'nt there, so I gingerly roll the throttle on to about 65. It's nearly 10pm and little to no traffic. I start to come up over a rise, the whole stretch I travel is about 5 miles, and straight as an arrow. I get to the top of the rise to see ol' boy sittin off to my right in the driveway to one of the more nicer homestead type joints out here. I ease on my brakes, but it's too late, he hits his headlights and pulls out, but that's it. He tails me a bit, not on my ass or anything. I go another 1/4 mile or so, then turn left onto my street. He hit's his light bar, no siren, but pulls me over just near the intersection. And as always he takes his sweet ol' time gettin to my window. He holds that bright-ass spotlight on me and sits there in his car. Undoubtedly runnin my plates, checkin for warrants, blah...blah...blah. I ain't got nuthin. He mosies on up and checks my credentials, says he clocked me at 68 in a 50, "I know I'm screwed buddy, let's just get this over with.", I think to myself. He takes my licence and goes back in his car. Few mins. later he pops out the spotlight and comes back. Says,"Well, you've not got any violations as far as I can see, here." I'm thinkin, "great, bud, you'll be the first". He then goes on,"I see you run squad there in Union, you FD or EMS?" I said,"Well, I'm both." He then proceeded to reply,"You know, professional courtesy goes both ways so, just slow it down for me will ya?" With contained glee, I reply,"Yes, sir...I appreciate it!" Man...I love this uniform!!

Ugh, I can't really say I DESPISE you firefighter/ems folk, but dammit do I EVER lust after your ability to avoid law enforcement. My buddy is a firefighter up here and not only is he close friends with some of the good ol' boys, but he gets away with ANYTHING. We were driving at 55 in a 45, a car pulled behind us, we rolled through a red light and started doing 65-70 in a 55, and the cop lit us up, walked up to the rear glass where he had his "Brighton Firefighter Engine 31" thingy, went back to his car, and drove off. Ridiculous.

Yep, I love it! Call it...perks of the profession. I've been an EMT for only about a year, planning to start Paramedics here in the fall. I've just completed my level 1 fire training. Level 2 is next up for spring. The way I look at it...we don't get rich at what we do by any means, but now that I have a car with some balls, boy do I love dem "perks". Keep in mind, however, not all piggys are so forgiving, even to us FD folks. So, rule of thumb...watch dat ass!!

Cops can get away with just about anything. My boyfriend is a cop, and all he has to do is flash the badge and he can get away with 90 in a 55 (which he's done before), with just a "slow it down next time."

Makes me very jealous. But in a year or so, I will have my own badge.

Wink

I have had 2 encounters with the cops with my redline. Each in 2 different towns. One the speed limit was 25 (most people do 40 on this road) and I was doing 45, the day I want to step on the gas a little, a cop was parked in someones driveway. The cop gave me a verbal warning. :-) YAY
The second time was in my town. Speed Limit was 30, I was going down a hill and I was doing 48ish and the cop pulled in back of me. I stopped at the light then I went and right after I went thru the intersection he pulled me over. Again another verbal warning :-) YAY. Now Im driving more carefully and doing the speed limits. I dont want a ticket.

I went to VT easter sunday, and was doing 80 mostly of the way on 91 and I passed a cop and had no problem.

Arrow Under Cover Cop

So far only one pull over. I was going to work at the airport, light turned green and i took off like a bat. All the way through first and second. After I let off the gas on second and shifted I was going about 60 (Speed limit 40) and I looked in my rear view and there was a Gold Ford Escort with hidden lights going off and he was trying to catch up. LOL I just pulled over into a gas station and waited a few seconds for him to catch up. Told me to step out of the vehicle so I figured out I was in deep. He asked me why the F___ i was going so fast (He also said I was going 75 MPH so I knew he didn't clock me). I told him I was late for work (I was really 30 min early). Thank GOD for the work badge. He let me go becuase I haven't had any scuffs on my record for the past 3 years (First time I got a warning ). And of course the whole I could take you to jail right now and inpound you car bla bla bla crap. Told me to drive the speed limit the rest of the way to work and don't let me catch you again. (I was thinking Ok... next time I'll just rip through 3rd and 4th. LOL . I've been taking it a bit more careful now. Now I look inside cars for hidden lights before I take off. LOL. Take care RL Peeps.
