K&N Product Listing for ION Redline

HOLY SHIAT! I can barley find my ass with both hands in the morning, let alone put this thing in. I might have to call in a couple of my buddies who actually know how to work on cars!

When someone gets this in, I would like to know exactly how involved this is. I cannot wait to get one of these!!!!!!!!!

It dosen't look too bad, if anyone has changed the air filter or modded the intake box, this should look familiar to them. It is a pretty involved set-up, but alot of CAI's are, a guy here at work has a 350Z and bought the CAI for it 3 months ago, still sitting in the box, hes afraid to touch his car at all...

I'm a little skeptical of what performance might be gained, other than having a better flowing filter, stuffing it into the fender precludes any ram air effect. Opinions ????

It's not just the filter that flows better, look at the design of the setup, it provides a nice long path for the air to accelerate through, and I bet it's alot better at deflecting ambient temps from the air stream. It's not just the filter, is what I'm getting at. We all know that we need some charts before we start handing out $$$, AEM has a dyno up for theirs, and I would guess that K&Ns would be similar.

From the install pics, that airbox stays in, and the tube passes through it ? Correct ??? Spooner, I understand the concept of having smooth laminar air flow, but the stock system does that pretty well, other than having the box located right in the middle of the flow path. Definately curious to see some charts.

Sorry, I'm babbling a bit, nothing like a big frosty beer at lunch on Friday to make you speak before you think!

I wonder why the didn't bother to shitcan the airbox? Would make for a much nicer looking install, and could have perhaps used less pieces. Maybe they thought it would be to much work for people to remove. Opinions ???
