I've been thinking about it and why the fender? plus the placement on the fender seems to go against the air flow while driving.

Do you think it would be possible to angle it to the right (when facing the car) spot of the bumper that has the little fake grill? If it went there with a real mesh grill in front, it would be almost ram air wouldn't it?

K&N surely chose to keep the input in the fender to avoid water issues, etc. Would be nice though, if they had given an option to run it to the fake grill cutout, for the guys that wanted a little free ram air effect, and were willing to live with the other risks. Thinking about it, they could've done a "Y" connection, with some sort of manual cutout, to pick the source of input. Would require another filter, etc. but would give you the best of both worlds. When you want the most HP possible, you switch to a front input; for the bad weather times, you switch to the fender input. Sound "goofy" ? Maybe, just rambling.

i have heard there is a good amount of cool, kinda pressurized air at the inner fender from the tires' rotation. that is why most cars and trucks have their factory airboxes routed to the fenders. i think its gonna work out pretty good.

My airbox has been obliterated, though - does it HAVE to be in place to use this K&N product?

Once there is a group buy price, I would be interested in filter and the Chicago/Milwaukee land group install. Keep me posted!
