This is what I came up with while trying to figure it out. Hopefully someone knows for sure:

While the Ion Redline uses a higher-torque capacity version of the Getrag 5-speed manual standard in 2.2 L versions of the Ion and Cobalt, the Cobalt SS Supercharged features an F35 5-speed manual from Fiat-GM Powertrain.
So the answer is no...

That's funny, I saw the exact same article and was just going to post the same clip. I answered Quaife back to this effect. I guess I will see how they respond.

not true, the RL uses the F35 from the saab, the cobalt uses a modified getrag, actually i found something on the quaife site a while back for that too. hopefully they do have something for the saab/rl

Well, now this gets more confusing. I suppose that is why Quaife wanted me to confirm which transmission was in the ION Redline. I hope that article was wrong, because they say they have a solution for the F35.

i'm 99.999999999% sure, but i could be wrong. if you check out info about the cobalt, it uses a "new" transmission that wasn't available before, they made it for the cobalt, the RL uses the saab F35 thrown in by GM because it was there and could take the power. seems logical to me! also, i believe they have some type of gearset for the F35 too, but thats off the top of my head since i'm not looking for it right now... maybe later when i'm home

Jason Alvarez with Quaife says that they have the LSD for both transmissions, and they are priced the same at $1,445.00.

Now I just have to find out the correct one of the two for the Redline and find a good installer, as I don't trust myself or have the tools.

Forgive my ignorance, guys......but what exactly does a LSD do? I mean, how does it help performance?
