Talk about beating the sh1t outta the Ecotec

I'm sure this article's been around before, but here's the basis of the GM build book and how they came about their figures:

http://www.year2032.com/ecotec.htm

A cool excerpt:
Quote:
However, as the Ecotec pushed through 283 hp at 4400 rpm, all four connecting rods simultaneously failed catastrophically and smashed through the side of the block. Laboratory analysis subsequently revealed a mid-beam compression fracture on all four stock powder-metal rods.

heh...simultaneous explosion...

But this article does point out something I've been thinking about lately, pretty much because of the cobalt guy that's claming to run an LT1 MAF sensor...

At what point are we gonna have to open up our throttle bodies and MAF sensors? If we're starting to think about additional sources of induction (twincharging, whipple, full turbo, M90, what have you) then when will we need to get that additional air flow?

yuppers - that's why I said that i'll be doing 8-10lbs for about 210-220whp then rods before a smaller pulley

i'm surprised, the Eagle rods off SMS are only $400, seems like a good price for a place that's always overpriced

and the build book even shows you how to put them in so yay!

I wasn't into the NOPI scene when she was racing, but the picture in that article for some reason associates to her in my brain... no?

That test was done on the 2.2L
the 2.0 is not using the powder rods.
