Question Bypass the Bypass? WTF?

So I have been reading about a simple mod you can do to your boost bypass valve. Athough you only gain a few HP and only above 6000rpm I still want to do it but I am scared for lack of a better word. I have read the how to's but I still dont get it. Why cant I just disconnect the bypass valve at the supercharger? Will it throw an engine code? Any advice? Its ok to tell me that I am dumb just as long as you can tell me why and how.

Ill go easy on ya... there is a search feature

But anyways, I would advice against this mod, as it keep the engine from bypassing boost during idel, or cruising conditions, killing MPG and putting uneeded strain on the engine.

The gains are minimal anyways if you are stock otherwise.

A better alternative is to reprogram it to not bleed boost while accelorating.

Search for 'HPTuners'

Yes. I see. That makes sense. I have no major mods, just a short ram intake and my own custom exhuast system. Thanks for the info.

I'm gonna have to disagree with anything negative anyone says about the boost bypass mod. I had it done on my car forever and at the track brought me from a 15.1 to a 14.7 with almost an identical 60'. I know sp00ner will say I think it cures cancer lol but I have never seen a negative effect, mpg/strain/etc on 3 04 Redlines, 1 05 Redline and 1 06 SS/SC and only benefits from more power and less computer control of boost. The mod does not stop the car from bleeding boost under daily driving conditions but rather stops it from bleeding boost under hard acceleration.

Where are you located in PA?

Check out the how to article in the how to section...

I plan on getting a hose valve to put in and use it for the time being before I get any sort of tuning...
