Congrats on the purchase. Where are you from? How many miles on the RL?

I'm from Akron, OH. The redline has 33,317miles on it.

Also another maintenance related question: Does the redline engine have a timing belt that needs changed, if so, at what mileage does Saturn recomend?

Because I think some cars only have a timing chain, which pretty much lasts forever.

If so, that is good news. my last timing belt change on my Tiburon GT cost me around $450

It seems as though the Redline engine is pretty maintenance free except for the 15gallons of fully synthetic oil every 3,000mi.

wwooooww hold your horses. Yout oil light will tell you when to change it, spending on driving habots (total engine revolutions and temperature mostly). It will let you go about 7-8k miles before a change

is there anything special about Saturn/GM's oil filter, or will any aftermarket oil filter do? (ex: fram, puralator, etc.)

...the question is: Does it come out drinkable?

Theres not really anything special about GM's filter, but people seem to like it. And dislike Fram, as you can see.
