This is great... ECU tuning is the mod I've been concerned about, because I had heard how proprietary the one in the RL is. I'm definitely on board for this one once it's available! Maybe then the critics will stop talking trash. Seems the only thing they really have to complain about with our car is the rev-limiter, but man, have they bashed the hell out of it for that. Can't wait to show the unbelievers the light!! Oh yeah, and I am in Michigan, but I can't lend my car. Sorry, everybody, it's not that I don't want to take one for the team, but the RL's my daily driver and I've got to get to work!! Otherwise, I'd be happy to give a hand...

Can the stock valve springs handle 7000+ RPMs? Coming from the V8 side of things, I know stock LS6 valve springs can get to about 6800 RPM before they start floating. That's something to consider with all this redline bumping talk. Pretty sure the top end is the only part of the combination at this point that would be weak when thinking about spinning it up in the 7500 range.

I'm very confident that they are more than capable. This valvetrain is supposedly good to over 9000 rpm.

Hearsay or is that from a credible source?

Sure would be nice if GM Performance Division would actually release some hard data on this thing.

It's my understanding that the valvetrain used is the same valvetrain used on the 1200 hp ion drag car, revving over 9000 rpms. You're right though some hard empyrical evidence would be nice.

Same with the actual block itself; they're using the GM super sleever 2 block; the more road-racing friendly of the two. It's got better coolant passages but is good to ridiculous amounts of boost.

The engine can easily handle 7k rpm shifts. This engine by all means is not a new design. The engine has been proven before from what I have heard...

i was under the impression that the 2.0 came from specific goals to get a 10,000rpm, 800hp drag car that would be reliable enough for 30-40 1/4 mi runs...

i was also under the impression that is how they came up with the ecotec handbook, which would probobly answer this question with authority

hehehe thanks for the enthusiasm silver bullet

Realistically in best case you're probably looking at a 3 month time frame, 6 months if we hit snags.

Just in time for the new year we hope

I will talk with my guy over at DHP tonight. I'll give you guys a heads up within 24 hours as to what's going on unless I can' get ahold of him.
