So you would need a ECU-Bypass valve combo to add pressure. im sure itll happen real soon.
there already is one, only the PCM needs to be retuned to not open the bypass valve to effectively achieve what you are talking about

again the PCM needs to be retuned to not open the bypass valve

Is this honestly an option given the small SC on the car? I would think that increasing boost at redline will only cause future issues in regards to heat and reduced timing from the computer?
I think the best thing for your cars in the early modding state given the fact the SC is close to maxed would be to get a CAI installed along with a larger TB and a ported SC...from there you can monitor temperatures and timing advance to determine of you can increase boost safely.

Hope that makes sence .

- plus a few boost tweaks
- Garret 3071R and 25psi coming soon...should be good for an easy 400whp

Actually, that is not a fact. Someone did the math and found out what the blower was spinning at and it is not close to it's max. Therefore, we can get more boost out of it before starting to push it to its max...

Care to show me those results? I have personally witnessed a B16A Honda with the same SC on it max out with ever bolt-on cams etc at just over 200whp, given the larger displacement of the Redline I would expect it to be able to hande 240whp or so?
I however do not doubt you can run more boost...but I bet if you run much more at redline you may run into issues unless the SC is ported, just because the SC can spin faster does not mean it should in your given application does it...

Please do prove me wrong!!

b16a - 8000-8500 rpm redline.
ion redline - 6450.

Given pulley diameter and engine rpm we determined that it can spin a few thousand more RPM. Check the thread about "attn michigian redline owners".

also, more boost isn't going to cause the increase in heat, smaller pulley will. and again, the m62 at 14000rpm as opposed to 12000rpm will only put out about a 25 degree increase in charge temps.

so allowing the PCM to not open the bypass valve a higher rpms like it is rumored to would be a good way to add power w/o swapping pullies...

I am not doubting the SC can spin more in fact I said it likely can! But do we know what kind of heat it will generate at 6500rpms on the Redline motor with an extra 2-3psi running through it? I certainly think you can run a few more PSI through it...but not at redline, how does the Redline computer regulate long term fuel/timing trims?

Just trying to learn more about your situation .

Thats makes sense, have you guys figured out a way to take the computer out of control in regards to that function yet? How much boost does it bleed off and is their a specific RPM it does this at?
