Wastegate and new computer in the works for the 2.0 Eco

I was at the Satty dealer today and talked to their RL Tech guy.

He said, the only aftermarket parts he knows are in the works are a wastegate and a chip. I think he said Jones was making the chip. I don't recall who he said was making on the gate.

He also told me that GM has been running the supercharger at 20 psi during tests with no problems.

take it with a grain of salt. and if you would, why would they have a wastegate in the works for a s/c application, i have my ideas already on why i would want one, but why for our cars???

Word of advise in the future DO NOT listen to tech's at the dealer...99% of the time they are blowing smoke up your ass and do not have anymore information that you do about the car and the upgrades!

I do hope Saturn/GM starts making performance parts for the Redline/SS in the future...they certainly need to do this to stay competitive with the SRT4!

exactly why i said take it with a grain of salt, the tech at my dealer wouldn't even believe me that they are selling the 2.0 s/c WITH the s/c for under 4 grand...

its a relife valve that is vac acctuated like a wastegate for a turbo. It opens when the ECU tells it to. If that stayed closed you would have an extra few psi. But the computer needs to be changed becuase the ecu will force it to open as far as possible to slow the boost down. So you would need a ECU-Bypass valve combo to add pressure. im sure itll happen real soon.

the problem is that with only @5000 RL made in 04 the call for aftermarket is very small.
but on the other hand when the cobalt comes on line they should be produced in greater numbers and there will be many after market sales items.
face it guys there are many many more Chevy people out there then Saturn people. so they will be selling many more cobalts.
thats what makes us so unique or special or just nuts.
just think of the collector item we are driving around it make you want to put it up on blocks for ten years.

with low production numbers on our side though we will fortuante enough with a decent resale I hope in the years to come where the mass production of the cobalt will ruin its resale value. Id be happy with a LSD and more boost maybe about 250 to the ground will make me a happy man.
