Arrow Redline Cruise Control

I Came across a problem on the Redlines but Saturn does not see it as a problem. Our redlines are equiped with a "+/-" set/accelerate button on the steering wheel. It's my impression that this button can be used to increase or decrease the speed of your car while the cruise control is in use. I use the button in this fashion and there have been a number of times while using the +/- the cruise control shuts down where you can no longer set your speed. After months of in and out of the shop with my 2004 and now my 2005 redline Saturn engineering says this is normal. The cruise control is invoking a fail safe and shutting down the cruise control system. The cruise control on these cars are computer controlled and do not have a seperate servo mechanism like all other cars. There are only 3 cars in the GM line that are computer controller, the Redline, Cobalt, and Corvette. Use the +/- to alter your speed, not just one time but use the control like an accelerator and see what happens. I thought the +/- could be used in this manor but it appears that it is only there to set the speed and then take your chances beyond that.

wow. seriously man, not to sound like an ass, but your car is a 205 hp FWD tuner, and you're complaining about the cruise control feature that it shouldn't have in the first place? Just replace the steering wheel with an aftermarket, then you wont have to worry about messing with the cruise control buttons-they won't be there. You don't need that stuff anyway...

I use mine more than I use the gas pedal. I use the +/- buttons all the time as I go thorough differnt speed zones. Never had any problems at all. Perhaps its you? Remeber you press once for 1mph faster or slower for the set speed.

I've never really tried to up my speed by more than 2 or 3 MPH after setting it and that always works fine. but I think I'll try holding it down and see what happens...

dont hold down itll cant keep count that way. Press 10 times real fast the + button that is and the car will speed up 10mph faster. press the - button 5 times and your car will slow 5mph. simple I thought it was to understand. Goofball you must be. The force is weak in you.

Exactly, I use my cruise control to speed up and slow down on road trips. Not once did it shut the cruise off, weird...
