Hey! Get a load of THIS poser. I'm surprised he didn't have a 20 pound bling-wing installed on the trunk to give him another 75hp!

Why do FRONT wheel drive cars need a rear wing? To keep the trunk closed? Why? The more downforce you have on the rear, the more upforce you have to counter up front.

But then again, Neons might as well be Lego sets to these Neon posers. They don't know the difference. If someone said it was cool to have pink side mirrors, they you'd see Neons with pink side mirrors nationwide.

Lemmings.

hey, when i get my ION (likely 2005 ) i'm gonna get one of those factory bling wings :-P they look cool when done right, and in my opinion the saturn wing is much better looking than any other spoiler or anything i've seen... but i'm tired.... if it comes down to a wing or the 6-disc in dash cd/mp3 changer, i'm going with the audio. maybe i'll just need to put an upside down wing on the front to counteract the rear wing.....

ive got no questions about a stock srt-4 motor living up for some serious abuse, but the rest of the car? dont know, got 2 customer's w/ srt-4's and the both have broken almost every damn trans/motor mount on the thing, one has a stage 1 upgrade, and one is stock w/ a 50 shot of nitrous, on the flipside of it where is the whole question of durability on this motor coming from? if you tune a well built motor w/ crappy head gasket's correctly it wont blow, neither engine is gonna blow, lets build em and race em, and see who's better, we all know that the srt 4 is faster stock, unless the srt4 driver sucks, its not gonna happen, but how many mustang guys beat camaro guys yet in last year of production there was i think 60-80 hp difference between the cars, thats what aftermarket parts are for, to close the gap or reverse it

The argument is basically moot when people start bitching about reliability, amenities, or reputations.

Bring it to the drag strip, or STFU.

do you still think your neon wont blow its head gasget by 80k?

I hate to break it to you but the SVT focus is a couple tenths quicker than the SE-R in the 0-60

Road & Track's "SPEED" magazine had a test on about 6 cars in the sport compact market.

Depending how the car is built, yes some FWD cars need a wing on the back. with air flowing over the top and beneath the car, some cars create the aerowing effect causing the car to lift and usually lift from the rear since that is the lightest part of the car. You are correct that most FWD cars do not need a wing but some do. That's why some FWD cars come with a wing on the rear that is not an option even when you go to the lowest model. Take the Celica for instance, it's wing create 50Kg (120lb's) of downforce on the back of the car at 80Km/h (50mph).
There is a reason for that.

it seems as though the masses must cling to something, be it a brand of clothes, cars or whatever your interest be, we cant like everything equally, cant admit that the next thing might be just as good but different than what we bought from company a, if 2 companies lets call them company x and company z created a product, packaged it, badged it and sold it within a matter of pennies of each other using the same platform for both cars and offering the same power and drivetrain options with minimal changes to the interior and exterior of the car people would still cling to one or the other...now this may sound completely ludacris but its already happened it was called Diamond star motors, eclipse, talon, and lazer these cars are within spitting of each others base price, all offered similar platforms for power and drivetrain options, are equiped 99% the same and still the masses cling to the eclipse, the first gens were all indentical cars from 90 to 94 no major changes ever happened between the packages in 95 they stopped making lazers all together. eagle dropped out in the mid 90s as well so now we have the eclipse...and just whats my point you may be asking? ahh good question...

the point is, stop pickin over 10 horsepower difference and a badge, if you like YOUR car thats fine hug it and rub it and stroke its hood everyday and tell yourself its the greatest thing ever, after all you just spent 20 large on it you'd better be damn pleased with it, but dont try to stuff your thoughts down my throat, in the end there is no better between the turbo srt-4 and the supercharged ion, the undergrounds are coming with parts like crazy for the ions the srts already have some parts in 3 years lets see who has the bigger cult following, who has the most warranty work and who has the best power adding packages, then we will talk smack about my car is better than your car because....

I understand why you're so hostile man, I really do. I mean, if I was driving a car that looked like the Pop O Matic bubble, I'd feel the constant urge to defend my manhood too.

the wing is there to help stabilize the rear of the car. I too a regular ION up to around 100, and the rear was sooo light, it felt like it would spin out when I changed lanes. I do have to say though, that I'd never buy a Chrysler product simply because they have a horrible reputaion for transmissions. Besides, the RL is one of the sharpest looking cars out there, there is just no disputing that.
