Supercharger Exposed! Pics and Performance Charts.

I had a unique chance to see the supercharger off the car. Thought everyone here would be interested, too.

Pic 1: Complete unit. Just 4 bolts hold it on (notice metal gasket over to right side)

Pic 2: Unit disassembled.

Pic 3: Snout removed. Notice the threaded hole in the center of large end. This is the filler hole for a special synthetic oil (more on that later)

Pic 4: Gear end of pulley shaft. Also shown is the black spacer that fits between shaft and gears.

Pic 5: Main body of SC with snout removed. Gear on left is where the black spacer goes. The pulley shaft drives this gear directly, which then spins the other gear in the opposite direction. These gears are mounted directly to ends of the impeller shafts.

2 more posts to follow.

Pic 6 - 8: Impeller assembly removed. Impellers are made of a hard plastic composite material. They are very smooth. Note: This unit is damaged. That's why the impellers are scratched and gouged.

Pic 9: Main body where impeller assembly fits. Interior is shiny and smooth. Opening on back end is where intake air enters the chamber. Note: Again, this is a damaged unit, hence the scratches and smudges on the interior wall. Air is forced down through triangular opening in bottom.

1 more post coming.
