Capacitor to Stock Electrical

As everyone knows our stock electrical sucks so what would happen if I hooked up a 1/2 farad cap to the stock main power and attached it inline with the battery? Would it help anything at all?

how does our electrical suck?

and...no, your battery is a capacitor (in a sense).

what exactly is the problem...?

You know just normal idle surge and regular RL problems.

Also, our battery is not a capacitor. A capacitor is not a battery. Batteries hold charges and are not made to relinquish energy repeatedly are capacitors are.

^you should put in a grounding kit, and most of your problems will go away. youre trying to work on the + positive side of the problem, when 99% of the time it really lies in the - negative side of the electrical. the engine & battery make pleanty of +.

get some good 4 gauge wire from...anywhere, and connect it to various points on your engine. change the negative wire on the alternator to 4-0 gauge. change the grounding strap on the engine block (i swear its only 8 gauge, and braided strap). connect some 10-8 gauge wires to all 4 of your coil bolts , and then connect them all to one giant metal block in the engine bay, then run a 4 gauge wire from that, to your battery. youll notice that you wont get dim lights when your system hits...

for those that have no idea about electrical, relate it to plumbing...

imagine a bucket with a pipe coming in, and a pipe going out. That bucket is the power needed to run your engine. Think of that bucket as the + power you have stored in your battery, and what the alternator is adding to the bucket. That bucket gets depleted a little bit everytime your sparkplugs fire, system hits, lights turn on, and so on...and that "water" goes through the pipe going out of the bucket, and we'll call those pipes "-", and it works in a circle, constantly draining and re-filling the bucket. The larger the "piping" is the easier it is for the water to exit and return to the bucket, as it has less "resistance" (measured in Ohms), and "resistance" hinders flow, resulting in lost "water". Therefore your bucket stays fuller, and the alternator doesnt have to work as hard to keep it full.

p.s. and i know Pierre is going to come in here and correct a few things i mentioned...lol

a capacitor is just another bucket, kinda like a water tower, that holds enough "water" to keep the flow moving, when the alternator isnt putting out enough flow to fill the main bucket. Usually because you have a "bumping" system...lol.

a cap is not really a good thing.it will make your alternater work harder.it will have to charge to things insted of one.

Haven't any of you bitches seen the Hyper Voltage System from Sun Auto in the years they have been out? They actually do help, it's not like a magic wand, but it is noticable. It essentially is a capacitor, but isn't exactly like a stereo cap. Had one on my last car, sold it to a buddy for a decent price, now I want one again. They make the most difference when you have a grounding system installed as well.

^^+1 what he said. Hyper Voltage kit + Hyper Ground kit = less light dimming situations. I believe SMS sells them both. If not, Gravana Tuning.
