Black smoke is perfectly normal. The car was tuned to run rich for safety reasons. Unless its blue/white smoke, nothing to worry about.

Getting on a car when you're low on gas...that kinda answers itself.

How many miles on your car? Running rich like they do on a factory tune and 50k or more miles would have me thinking front O-2 sensor having a slow response to change. Not anything you would see on a DVM but I have had my fare share of 'going bad' O-2 sensors over the years and the fat (rich) running cars having issues earlier on than the ones running clean Fuel/Air ratio's. You may check to see if there are any 'pending' codes.

I think you have something mixed up. An A/F of 14.2 is almost optimal. If a car is running rich (too much fuel) that number will be lower like say 10.2

Then you have the best (almost stock) stock A/F curve of any RL on this board I'd say.

Not if he's at WOT.

That would be pretty damn scary if he's getting 14.2 at WOT.
