Howdy - What do you think? ...

Hello all. I stumbled across this Ion ...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=18

Would you say this is a good deal? Anything you would comment about this car? Reviews on the '04 Ion RL are really crazy. Some love it, some hate it. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this will be my first supercharged purchase. Going to test drive it this weekend.

its a decent deal. not crazy amazing deal... but decent for the year and milage. if i was in the market i would go take a look at this car.

i love my 04, sure i broke alot of parts, blew up a motor, and feel slightly uneazy driving it too far from home for fear of being stranded... but i still love her.

That looks like a good deal. I'd check with carfax.com for a clean title though. Because the Ion Redlines are not in high demand, you might be able to negotiate the price to a little under $11,000.

Good Luck with the purchase.

Looks pretty clean. I've got an '04 and I hadn't had any problems for about a year and a half now, until last night I caught suspicion that my intercooler pump may be bad. Easy fix though.

It really comes down to the test drive. Like all cars, check the carfax...if it's clean, offer them $11,000. That's a pretty decent price though.

Oh, and while looking at the car, check under the hood. Look at the supercharger pulley. If it's pressed on, probably still stock. If there are bolts holding the pulley on, the previous owner has modded it. Bolted on pulleys could mean stage 2, or even something smaller with a custom tune (not to mention it'll be a lot faster than stock!). But don't mention that to the dealer if the pulley is bolted on, they may be stiffer on the price lol.

Good luck with it dude!

I got an 04 redline also. I have had it for more than two years now and really have not had anything major go wrong with it. The only problem i have from time to time is the throttle body. The price does seem pretty good but like everyone said check it out and drive it then go from there.

I've had my 04 since new. I haven't had any real big problems.

Thanks for the replys ... I will definately look at the pulley. Reason I am looking at the Red Line is because a coworker of mine (who has this monster of a supercharged cobra) suggested this car. Said it was easy to mod the pulley for extra HP and it would have more low end power for fun city driving than a turbo with the lag.

I will let you all know how it turns out.

It's hit or miss with 04s...I can't remember what the warranty is, but I suggest you foot it for an extended warranty.
