Chewed up skittle

If you can imagine what a chewed up skittle looks like, then you can picture the condition of the SRT4 I saw tonight. First I'll say where I was at, so fellow metro-detroiters have an idea. I'm coming home from work, heading north on I-75, and get off at exit 69, Big Beaver Rd . At least one night out of every week, around that big bend where that exit is at, there's usually one accident on any given side of the freeway. Tonight is that 1 night of the week (so far):

I'm driving down the stretch of 75 before my exit, and I see a cop's lights, then another. Unfortunately I have to take this exit slow since the cops are right next to it (but after, on the other side of the wall). I usually take the curvey exit at about 80, then the 25mph banked turn part at about 50 but I couldn't tonight . Once I'm on the exit, I see another cop car, and then a Camaro cop car. In all, there were probably 7-8 cops lined up on the right shoulder. I see some type of business van in between the cops, that didn't look like it had any damage. After I pass a couple more cop cars, all their lights on, I see a flatbed truck, and then see the SRT4 on it, immediately recognized by the spoiler. As I drive past it slowly, getting a good view, I see the rest of the car, all mangled up. It's right side has many dents and crimples, broken windows, the roof was all bent up. So back to my first description: a chewed up skittle pretty much resembled this car.

My take on the situation is that it looked like the end result of a cop chase. The Camaro cop car being a leading hint, as well as 7 other cops. Given the condition of the SRT4, it looked like it tried taking the big curve too fast, lost control, and either A) slammed into the right barrier pretty hard, smashing up that side of the car I saw, or B) rolled it into the wall.

Just thought I'd post this scene, hopefully will hear something about it on another forum or on the news somewhere.

*Edit: The SRT4 was red.

Is that out by Troy? Because I was out in Troy with my buddy, he did a few things for Time Auto Transport, and we saw a Camaro cop, and they're so discreet in their identification as a law enforcement vehicle. It says "Troy Police" or something in about size 12 font on the side, and that's it.

That sucks for him; I'd imagine it'd been a chase too. Whenever anybody I knows says they'd run from the cops or wanted to, or anything, I remind them: your car may be fast, but a Motorola's faster.

Keep us updated.

Yep, it's right in Troy. The couple of Camaro cops that I've seen are very discreet about looking like a police vehicle.

Question

Did that happen to be a Red SRT-4? Today I noticed skid marks going off into the center guardrail and from what I remember a nice large fresh streak of red paint along it.

That definitely left a mark!

It sure was red, and that was most likely from the same car. Was it on the right or left cement barrier? Because if it was on the left, that means he jacked up both sides by going from the left barrier to the right one since his right side, the one I could see, was all jacked up.

Update: RedlineTuner, I drove past my exit to see these skid marks tonight, and damn, they're barely around the beginning of that turn. He must have been going a weee bit too fast, more than his .85g's worth of turning. There's a nice dark set of tire marks from the right lane, straight into that guardrail in the left lane, making it seem like he didn't even try turning. This is why I find it hard to believe in a past thread where an SRT4 owner claimed going 120mph around a corner....That car must have banged off the left guardrail, and had been going fast enough where he didn't keep on riding that guardrail since his right side was all smashed. This means the momentum flung him off that guardrail on the right hand curve, and all the way to the right cement barrier to jack up his right side, or he rolled it after hitting the guardrail. Crazy stuff.

OK, guys, what's a skittle? I know about the candy, but how does that word relate to cars and people? Help the old guy out here....

It's been to the Dodge dealer for a few items, and the main tech who works on it has a 2004 SRT-4 that's right at 400 hp at the wheels....I don't think my 222.65 hp will be chewing him up anytime soon...

Not unless you're racing on a freeway exit ramp.
