I got this off of the Amsoil Website - they have a pretty decent cross reference guide for almost everything. According to this source, it specifies Synthetic ATF fluid, but also specifies a Saturn Part.

There are also many threads on this already- here is one-
Thinking of swapping out my Transmission Fluid...

I believe I tracked this down a while back and found that the Saturn part is really a Castrol Synthetic ATF, so using Dexron 6 (there is actually a 6? did not know that) sounds right. Here is the equivilent Amsoil part-

I've never heard of Dextron 6. I just used 2 quarts of Castrol's 75w90 full synthetic. Shifts fine.

There have been a few times that I really dug in and researched this, and I think using a 75w-90 gear oil is probably the wrong thing to use. Since its gear oil, the weight clasification cannot be directly compared to engine oil which is why it does not seem as thick as you would expect. That said, its probably much thicker than a Synthetic ATF. Do you get any sticky shifts ? Minor gear grinding ? Any adverse behavior ?

75w90 will work fine as long as it meets GM's GL-4 requirement (not sure if Castrol's is)

When I had my Centerforce put in the guy put in Royal Purple Max ATF. But after reading This thread I changed it out for R.P. Max Gear. And for the past 4 months with the new clutch and fluid in, she has been shifting super smooth.
