Long distance - IA to CA and back in the RL!

Just got back a few weeks ago from a round trip drive from Des Moines to my hometown in CA. 1800 miles each way. I had the camshaft gasket recall and ECU update right before I left. Car ran like a champ. Weather was not too hot either way so im sure that helped. Had it on cruise @ 85 most the way and had to jump on it a few times to make my point (you know what I mean)

All in all it was a fun trip. Took about 29-30 hours each way and I loved driving every minute of it. I had no problems and all my friends in CA loved my RL. Had to whoop on my lil bro's VR6 Jetta while I was out there too.

Has anyone else had the chance to go on a long distance drive?

You know I wanted to do that when I was out there.
Hit the Wed open track up at Sears (or whatever its called now) in Sonoma.

Decided to pass since I already drove the mo fo 1800 miles and still had to drive back!

I used to live in Pleasanton, East Bay. Grew up down in Monterey.
Where you at in Nor Cal?

I put about 700 miles on over the 4th. Car got 28mpg almost exactly, and I think more on the way back, but didn't keep as good of track.

It was great on the highway, never have to shift out of 5th if you don't want to....

Fruckin right! I lived off Stoneridge behind Nob Hill.

Yeah I took my mustang up to Sac speedways a couple times.
I actually almost moved up to Sac and went to work for WebEx but got offered a job out of state for a lot more money. Its not Cali (And I really miss it) but its cool. No crime, cheaper houses, cheaper gas, etc...

No open tracks out this way that I know of.

What kind of reaction and 50 foot times are you getting?

I know I still have problems launching in first. Going to get that GoofyGuy torque brace soon. Hopefully that takes care of the wheel hop I get until I can afford the LSD.

This is my first FWD juiced car. I had a couple mustang 5.0's before, but never did too much to them that would let me get better than the low 14's.
