Rock Chips

Has anyone else noticed an abundant of rock chips all over the front of their car? Every time that I wash my car, I seem to notice a few more. I'm not one that tailgates, I hate it and hate when people tailgate me, so I'm conscious of when I'm doing it. The only time I get close is if someone changes the lane in front of me pretty close, so I downshift until I back off to a comfortable distance.

Anyway, there's a bunch of 4 of them together on the front part of the driver side of the hood. There's a few in other spots, and one on the A pillar of the passenger side...these things are just annoying and too noticeable (my car is silver), especially since the paint that gets chipped away exposes a black either primer or the layer below it. The chips seem pretty deep too. I might post some pics in a day or 2 to show most or all of them. It probably doesn't help that I'm working in the Paint department of the assembly plant either where I'm forced to spot and recognize all defects...

I was at Autozone earlier looking for touch up paint, and they didn't even list any Saturn cars in their book in any section....

I've had my car for a little over 4 months now, and did not expect to see so many chips already. I guess it could have something to do with the parts of I75 that I drive back and forth to work, where it isn't nice a smooth for most of it...

I got a little thing of touch up paint from the dealership. Don't leave it in your glove box though because that's where mine was and some how the top broke off. I got all the paint cleaned up though. Made the car stink for a few day until I found out what it was though.

I don't know they gave it to me for free. I wouldn't think it would cost more than 5 bux.

Yea that's one thing I'm glad hasn't happened. I hate window chips and try to avoid staying behind trucks (pickup and semis) for too long in fear of the rocks jumping up to my windshield. There are a couple of weird scratches on my windshield though that glimmer in the sun that I can only see on the inside. Just very slight surface scratches on the outside.

Get it painted then put some 3m on it - works for my ION 1 with 33,000 miles & no chips. Redline ordered...

*ouch* same here... racing a juiced accord around a wide 4 lane curved road at 110 mph... his accorn couldn't handle the corner so he cut into it like a cheese head into the sand on the yellow line.. got a nice chip/crack.
Aw well... the look on his face when we got to the light and I told him i was running a 4 cyl was priceless haha
