use a screwdriver-it has metal clips and just pops off ! Be careful and you shouldn't have any problems. I've had mine off and on several times.

Yeah, it's fun! You'll be doing it all the time. Just give a good firm tug, like you mean it. Don't do it 5 years from now though, it would prolly shatter. Aw man, that would be funny to see. "Watch this".... Like the video of the bumper rip on the Geo Storm. Or Metro, can't remember...

yea the ions have prollythe easiest deck removal of any car.. if u want a very detailed way of taking it off here ya go

place a flat headed screw drive in the middle of the bottom of the cover.. get the tip of the screw drive under the plastic and slowly start to wedge it under the plastic... once u get the full head of the screw drive under the plastic grab the handel and pull firmly towardsthe rear of the car... don't worrie your not gunna break it since it will just pop right off like designed... if it feels stuck that b/c your being little girl about it.. pull hard it comes right off... then u just need to remove the 2 7mm screws holding in the stereo and the stereo comes right out(after u unplug it of course)

Maybe this is just an asinine comment, but how are all of the people on here that ask for help with their stereos master installers and wouldn't pay best buy or circuit city to do it themselves, but need help pulling off the dash piece (or various other easy questions.) I agree with the advice of the screwdriver AND the AC vents, but c'mon if you have to ask us how to do that, it might not be a bad idea to have it professionally installed.

Also, beware that the metra harness will likely not work with your car so if that's what you obtained get ready for trouble.
