Angry Dead Red LIne

I pull in for gas, like a hundred times before, get in hit the key and NOTHING! Service engine message displays and passcode light flashes while key is turned to start. Tried different key, no change. Wasted more time by calling Saturn customer assistance. After 15 minutes of trying, it suddenly fired right up like nothing ever happened. Sound familiar to anyone ? Car is bone stock with 6900 miles on it.

lol.. wow is all i can say... gm has no freakin clue how to make a decent ingnition switch... this is nothing to worrie bout as it's not going to hurt the engine or the car... take it to the dealership and tell them your ignition switch is shot and u want a new one... when they ask why tell them yuor story.. what gives it away is the pass lock light coming on.... i'm gunna put money on that being the problem since i've replaced close to 200 on regular ions... the process is very simple and takes only 30 mins to do... mostley b/c the 30 mins is spent replacing the one u have and then teaching the new one the cars ignition code... very simple to do and very common in ions

lol lol lol lol ................................... did you click the unlock alram again b4 it actually started? if so that happened to me when i first got the car. its the aram is still set and it is a safty feature (starter disabler). when ever that lock and key light is lit up that means that the starter disabler is active.

either disabled or not reading the correct voltage... either way if it happens anymore u should take it to the dealership and have it replaced

It happened to me before - I parked my car at work about an hour before I was due in, and my buddy showed up & asked for a ride . . . wouldn't start after like 10 tries, went to look under the hood for something amiss, found nothing, tried one more time & it just hummed happily to life. Didn't get the "check engine" or security light, just sort of nothing . . . no idea.

i believe saturns use pass key 2 which is a better form of pass key. inste3ad of using the resistor pellet in the key it is now on the ignition cylinder. i personally have replaced plenty of them on grand am's and alero's. they constently lose their voltage and pragrammed memory. im not sure how to enter the VTD relearn on the saturn but if its like the grand am you bump the start and then let it set for roughly ten minutes when the security light stops blinking and then it should start. but then again you do have a warranty and their should be a stored code for it. unless you cycled the key 40 times then the code could possibly be gone

I had the same problem, lucky for me it was parked in front of my house and it finally did start. Crazybrew hit it right on the head, thats exactly what the dealer did to fix mine. They tried the old "can not duplicate the problem", then oddly enough it did it again as the service manager went to pull my car back around.

I've gone into my car sometimes and have tried to start it to no avail. Then I remember to push the clutch in
