side to side play in shifter

Is there a parts kit or something out there to eliminate the play in the shifter or am I the only one that is experiencing this.

1/4" would be a fair measurement.

that would be a 1/4" to the left and 1/4" to right, so 1/2" travel in allb

There's nothing wrong with your car; don't even worry about it, as long as it's not like the play there is in neutral. Is this the first car you've driven that's a stick? (not a flame here, just wondering)

i'm working on convincing modernperformance to put out some shifter bushings, i think that would fix the issue at hand.

they need pictures of:

"What I need to get started with this is detailed pictures of the bottom end of the shifter, the shifter assembly as a whole, the shifter cable(s) on both ends and the transmission where the cables attach. Some car/truck applications over the years don't allow much improvement over stock parts, some applications would be impractical (cost and complexity). I did talk to Cory from Modern last week in Detroit, it's a project he would like to move forward on. I looked into it briefly in May but ended up getting sidetracked. Had I known there was interest I would have gone ahead back then but we can do that now.

i'm not going to have time this weekend to do so (bachelor party, moving a friend), but if you have time, and can get what he needs, it could speed things up, and likely won't cost much at all

from their site:

"Booger Bushings: $21.50 per set including shipping via First Class Mail."

that's not expensive at all to improve shifter feel if you ask me, and i think it would probably cure the hurried 3rd gear mis-shift...
