My baby got hit today :(

I've had the car 2 months and 8 days and someone hit my car.

I was in a right turn lane going towards a light (30th ave and 50th st for those of you who are in Tampa), I had just waited for a car to pull out of a driveway on the right, was pushing in the clutch to get to second gear and boom, I got hit by a Ford Aerostar making a left turn into the driveway that I was passing on my right. She hit me hard enough to start my car to spin and thankfully my ice-driving reflexes (lived in MI for 18 years) kicked in and I avoided hitting the two cars that were in the lane to the left of me. If I hadn't already had the clutch in, I probably would have made contact with those other two cars.

Damage.... Both driver side doors were hit. Both doors now have issues with opening/closing. The inside of the back door has a punture hole and is thunking against the back quarter panel when opened/closed. The front door is rubbing against something inside. In the morning it's going to Saturn body shop to make sure it is drivable. I'm concerned because it was hit in the side and might have other damage underneath. I don't want to hurt her worse. They're also going to check the door seals to make sure the interior won't get drenched when it rains. The insurance guy will come take a look at it tomorrow for his assessment.

I'm just heartbroken. I'm a careful driver and it didn't matter because of someone else's mistake. I didn't even see her in time to be able to stop. A witness was kind enough to stop and made sure that the driver didn't take off before we got information exchanged.

My baby kept me safe and that's what she's meant to do. I just hate that she got hurt doing it.
Pictures if you wanna see My baby's boo-boos
The girl that hit me has been real nice, even called this afternoon to make sure everything was ok and to find out what the insurance people said.

I don't suppose pointing out the lack of dents in your car makes you feel any better does it?

Sorry to hear that your baby got blasted too. The good news is it'll be OEM parts on the car , better news is after mine nothing even showed up on carfax report so you should be a-ok if you plan on selling it (so long as it wasn't totalled.) It's just plastic, they'll put new pieces on, put some paint there and she'll be good as new. Just remember that you have a "terrible stiffness in your neck and shoulders" when the other insurance company asks heh.

Might want to be very careful with the "terrible stiffness in your neck and shoulders" plot. I've had a lot of experience in aiding in the criminal prosecution of a number fraudualant insurance claims and scamming insurance companies not as simple as some might think anymore. If you are hurt, you should be compensated by all means.

Yeah yeah, soft tissue injury litigation is a pain the neck (no pun intended) But I also don't think that insurance companies (and I happen to work for one as an adjuster) compensate people for the time they've had to vest into this accident. Therefore, I feel a minimal early settlement benefits all people involved and fairly compensates an individual for time lost. By seeing a doctor to make sure you're ok, you not only confirm that there will be no long term problems as a result of this accident, you also open an avenue to be reimbursed for your inconvienence and time involved in an accident (also known as general damages.) Am I saying wear the neckbrace and go nuts...heck no, but it doesn't hurt to get it checked out either.

So yes, that probably wasn't a responsible attitude towards it and I live in a state that has thresholds so it doesn't even apply to me, but something to consider if you lost work time or anything.

somebody did a hit and run on my car one night while I was at work. I had the car maybe a month and a half. I'm stilling working with the body shop to get everything fixed. Had to have the rear bumper replaced, driver rear quarter painted and pin striped, still waiting for the saturn emblem to come in, wheel polished, fill, sand, and paint driver ground effect. which will be performed in 2 weeks. If I ever get my hands on the son of a bitch that did it, he/she is gonna eat my glock.

I agree. My girlfriend was hit by someone about 8 months ago and I made her go to the hospital to get her wrist checked out mostly so it was documented. She's starting to have trouble with it now and is very glad she followed my instructions at the time of the accident.

Off topic->You'd be surprised how many times we get hours of videotape of a claimant with a back injury that "prevents him from working in a factory" as he sods his lawn or something else equally stupid.

I have a guy right now who had minimal rear damage from a rear end accident come in to pick up his check and then pulled me to the side saying "y0 dawg, right there my shoulder was hurtin to sign for that check" with no appreciable pain at any other point in time until he pulled me aside. I gave him the option of taking 500 bucks and letting me close 'er down and he refused so now he'll get nothing for wasting my time

**Thank you BI tort threshold**

If it makes you feel any better last week Some 80 year old women backed out of her driveway right into the quarter panel of my 68 Camaro. I had it looked at by a good body shop and it's 1375.12 in damage! The kicker is that the car was parked.
