My car is being wierd

I don't know what the hell the deal is with it - it doesn't do it frequently, so I don't feel compelled to take it in to the service department, because it only does its little obnoxious thing every 2-3 weeks.

The problem is that just every once in a while I'll sit down, put the key in, push in the clutch, and the car won't start. The radio & everything turns on, the engine just won't turn over; nothing. No groan, no clunk, NOTHING, and I can't figure it out. I sit there for 5 minutes and it starts up like nothing was wrong. Any ideas?

Take it in before it leaves you stuck in a parking lot, or rest stop, 100 miles from home, with a dead cellphone.

hahahah ive been in that situation many time spooner.

well it could also be that the pin that the clutch pushes to let the ign know that you are trying to safely start the car could be malfunctioning (sp). just a thought. i had a prob with this on the prelude and the escort. on those all ya had to do was to re adjust the nut on the switch to extend it out farther to make it so you dont have to push the clutch so far down to start it.

mine does it too, although I am not entirely convinced that I am just not pushing the clutch down all the way since it always starts on the 2nd try.

My car does it every once in a while, I think it happen when I start turning the key before my clutch is down all the way. All I have to do is let off the clutch and then push it in again and she starts right up.

Bingo!
(assuming you dont have a flashing security lamp, which is something else- and what 1saturn4norm is referrng to) This apparent problem can occur quite easily-but is considered normal operation. The PCM It needs to see the clutch depressed BEFORE it receives a CRANK request from the BCM or it will disable starting. There is a short delay before it is re-evaluated. If you always full depres the clutch BEFORE cranking- you will generally never encounter this...
