oil change how to (sticky?)

1) jack up car to get under to remove the oil drain plug. (15mm i think, isnt that the normal size?) make sure you have an oil pan ready.

2)let that drain and get up and stand on the left side (driver side) And remove the 2 bolts holding the coolant filler neck at the front of the car off so I could move it outta the way.

3)with your left hand maneuver the 1 1/4" (32mm) socket under the supercharger. Takes a little finesse to get it on there.

3) look from the top down and insert at least a 6" (?) long extension down there and unscrew it.

4) Remove the extension and reach under there to pull off the socket.

5)Then remove the cap (the filter is going to come with it)...Repeat in reverse order for install.

6) dont forget to put the oil drain plug back in and tighten it down.

7) after everything is reinstalled, insert ~6 to 7 quarts of oil. first enter 6 then start then shut off let it settle ~ 4-6 mins then check level and enter more if needed.

8) PUT VALVE COVER OIL CAP BACK ON. and then start the car and then shut off let settle and check again and if needed add more if not then CLEAN up yo shit and

last step:

go in car, press tripmeter button once, then hold for 5 seconds till it beeps to reset the oil change reminder message.

how that look what else do i need?

i've done my 14th oil change to a redline today... not mine.. ones at the dealerships... the best thing to do first is to take off the oil cap first then take the filter and place it so the little nipple and the side of the cap are holding the filter above the little filter housing.. and then go thru and take off the drain plug and everything else.. doing this allows for theoil to drain off the filter and out of the cap so once u take off the filter after all the oil is emptyed they filter is dry and u don't make a complete shit mess... thats my way of doing it atleast and it keeps things clean.. but besides the order your completely right

Where do you guys buy the oil and filter? I just moved to NE Mississippi, where there is no dealership around, so I am going to have to do this eventually, and I was wondering if you know of a good place to order these supplies. Possibly online? Thanks.

I buy my oil online, but go to the dealer for the filters. Call Saturn of Cary, they will probably ship to you. You might have to buy a few at a time though.

Where in NE MS are you. I am in Memphis, and there are 2 saturn dealerships here. Also, you can get them at any GM dealer or even a parts store. As for the oil, I have found that Wal-Mart has the cheapest price around on the Mobil1. I can buy it cheaper there than buying it through the shop I work at. Depending on where you live, it is only about an 1.5 drive to memphis from say Corinth in NE MS.

Good ole' Columbus, MS. I guess I shouldn't call it NE, since it is about the farthest southern point of what I consider northern MS. I think the closest dealership is Birmingham, AL, which is more of a drive than I want to make for an oil change.

Thanks for the info, though. I appreciate it.

Fram makes a filter for our cars, as it is just the same filter as the 2.2 ecotec uses (checked the product # right from saturn as me and my dad own the, 1 RL, 1 2.2 sedan). So if you can get to a parts store that sells replacement filters by like fram or delco(i think thats right), etc, just look for the one for the 2.2L engine so then you don't have to go to the satty dealer.
