limp mode after rev limiter...

ive had this probelm twice now...i hit the rev limiter and my car goes into limp mode...almost no power to my car...then i pull over, turn the car off for about 5 minutes and turn it back on and everything is fine expect the check engine light is on...the first time i was right by the dealer, i took it in, he reset the check engine light and i was on my way...second time i was about 30 miles away from a dealer...lucky nothing serious happened and hopefully wont...ive hit the rev limiter more then these past two times and i never went into limp modr, and i know most owners have hit the rev limiter, has anyone else had this problem or had this happen to them?...

I had it happen 2x actually. yrethguad was in the car when it happened. I think it was a crank position code the first time the second was a MAF code.

I think my car is some kind of cyborg alien learning problems from other RL's and adapting to fix itself. While trying to record how my super sounded after i installed my intake I wasn't watching the tach and rode the limiter in 2nd for a good 5 seconds and nothin'. Also against other RL's I kick ass. I got to get me to the dyno or a track to see what I'm doing stock before I get this psi-fi kit of destruction. Maybe I have a wendsday computer, engine and body.

I beat the hell out of mine but there were a few freak incidents. Like the time I pulled into McDonalds and the coil pack burnt out? Why the say a ground I say crappy quality control.

I guess I've been fortunate...no codes...no limp mode....typhoon working good. Rev limiter hit more often than I have wanted.

I have hit the rev limiter so many time I lost count. I have a typhon intake and often hit the limiter in 2 and 3rd. I myself would not like to see the rev limiter raised. I would rather just have the power lower so that in case I do hit the limiter I will not have to worry about the car crapping on me. It's not bad to hit hte limiter in this car since it is detunned. Just my 2cents.

I hate hitting the rev limiter! That's why I put in a big bright shift light!

The only time I have ever seen the limp mode light (other than on start up when all those pretty lights flash) is after I revved my engine to redline (went past it...woops) while parked in my driveway. The light came on and the car stalled. I have nailed that limiter a few to many times while driving, but that has never happened.

When you peg the limiter in neutral at 0 mph it send the car into limp mode. Just turn it off and back on and it should be fine.
