Is it just me or......

......does it seem like EVERYTIME you spend more than 2 hours washing and detailing your car there's some idiot somewhere kicking up dust/dirt/mud/etc? I swear it seems like I wash my car, drive it less than a mile, and some stupid construction zone with the concrete all tore up has some idiot driving on the dirt kicking up dust or some moron decides he wants to water the concrete out in his front yard, or some idiot in front of you decides they need to put on their windshield washers or they're leaking some sort of fluid. Makes it where I don't even want to bother washing my car anymore. Of course it doesn't help that I have a bumper kind of jacked up right now and my car's not running exactly great. Maybe I should trade this thing in for a junker. You don't worry as much when you are driving around in a junker..........Ok I'm done ranting.

Isnt that the way it is supposed to be? You wash the car and it either rains or some knob infront of you is hauling ten yards of sand in a rusty 72 toyota pick up truck

I just carry the handy dandy California Car Duster with me at all times incase of emergency

It's called the murphy's law of washing your car - if you do it, within the next 24 hours, it's going to get shitty.

Generally when I wash mine it rains the very next day.

It also seems that the length of time before the rain/dirt cloud/sandstorm/greasy-fingered teenager gets to your car is inversely proportional to the time spent washing the car. If you spend a half hour giving it a quick bath, you'll probably be somewhat shiny for a week. If you spend 6 hours washing, waxing, polishing, shining, buffing, and drying the bastard, don't expect to make it out of your driveway.

What Great Lakes area are we talking? Southeast Michigan? Because I'll waste my gas for THAT! (just kidding, but that's awesome.) Seriously though, what's the place called, and where's it at?

Ha, no idea, I just heard "great lakes" and got excited. I'd be interested to know if car washes around here had that kind of policy, but I'd highly doubt it, as there are dirt roads EVERYWHERE and people would milk that like nothing.

Ya, thats why early in the year or late in the year (spring/fall) I use the Esso gas station car wash as it only costs like 3.99 and it doesn't require any effort so if it rains (which it does every 2 or 3 days) I don't care as much.

I'll either wash & wax it myself or go to the BP, & it never fails 1/2 days later it rains. One time we had a light sprinkle & I went out & wiped her down in the rain.

Talk about luck. I have planned 1 day every week for the past 3 weeks to go out and washed my car. It will be hot and sunny the day before, and the day I'm supposed to wash my car, it rains. WTF ? Talk about confusing. The very next day, when I don't have time to wash my car bright and sunny again.
