pacific raceways high performance driving event

I participated in this event on sept.28th,
woohoo!!
what a blast that was!

as a 1st time novice, I spent 2/3 of the day with an instructor, and then they let me solo for the remainder of the day.

the cool thing was how they knew all about my car - they really liked it alot and said it was a dream to drive, handled very well, fast, and was a really tuff car.

they told me how Saturn had wanted to supply them with RL's for the school,

and so, the school wanted to check out the cars first to find out if the RL could handle all the abuse it was going to need to take, they didn't want a bunch of cars that would break down on the track,
so Saturn gave them some RL's and told the school to go and try to run them into the ground - break em!
the instructors ran the piss out of them, tried everything to get something to fail, tried to get the brakes to fade, ran the cars really hard, everything they could think of.

Performance and durability - the cars passed with rave reviews and flying colors.....
all except for one thing.

the fuel consumption.

the school said it went through so much fuel, they couldn't believe how it sucked up the gas, they were refilling the tanks 4 times per day.
so it was not economically practical to use these cars for the school.

other than that - they sure loved the car.

so it was cool, they knew all about my car, i liked that, made me feel good about my car.

the 1st 2/3 of my day with the instructor wasn't all that bad on the fuel i thought, only 1/3 of a tank of gas - less than half a tank anyhow,
but i guess we were taking it pretty easy overall.

Then when I went solo - I drained the tank in no time! lol!

oh man it was fun to go fast and do those laps.
so cool!
this car was awesome

can't wait to do it again!

Awesome man. Sounds like ya had fun. It's good to know that they even considered the RL as a learning car, that would have been quite an honor IMO.
