Leaking Trunk

anyone had a leaking trunk yet?

just noticed mine is soaked on the right side,
never noticed it before and I've washed the car 2 or 3 times a week all summer.

drove in the rain the other night and now I notice this.

Somebody said that they had a problem with the spoiler mounts rusting out. Perhaps you can check there.

Frickin sweet! Somebody else to share my leaking pains. And yes, I'm also the one with the spoiler mounts that rusted a little bit. But no, that is not related to the trunk leaking, since the rusting spotted mounts were on the left side.

When you wash your car, or get it wet or whatever, open your trunk and pull back the carpet in the back right corner (rear most back of the car, not the back part of the trunk behind the seats). When you pull the carpet up, you will probably have the nice deep pool of water in that pocket down there. My guess is that it's coming from that rectangular air vent with the paper flap right above it (about 6" long by 3" tall).

I haven't tried to figure out why it's doing this, but I'll tell the dealer about it whenever I go there again, if something major goes wrong or maintenance work. The Cadillac's have this same vent design, I think it's to release the air in the trunk to keep pressure uniform, and over the summer when I had to check out all the leaks on these cars in the plant, this was one of the locations of leaks. This was fixed by pulling the paper flap thing down to cover the hole (it's on the backside of the vent) and that stopped them from leaking, but that doesn't seem to be working here.

If you figure it out, let me know.

what do you mean by this?
do they drain near the trunk or something?

I don't know where they drain, but my entire sunroof module was recently replaced.

they found the problem.

there's a plastic drain of some sort hidden on each side of trunk,
the one on the right side is broken.

they're ordering in a replacement for me...
