2005 vs 2006 RL

Hey all, yea I've been trolling around these forums for a little while while at work, so I haven't really just recently just wandered in.

Anyways, what are the exact changes from 2005 to 2006? I know the price drop, some seat color changes, and the gauge changes, is there any actual performance changes in any fashion? (in other words, is the 2006 worth the extra couple grand it'd cost to get it over the same model 2005 at this point).

A very slightly used RL (or a one year old one that a dealer can't get rid of) is looking like my cup of tea, I'm now just waiting around looking for a good deal. I know the 2005 competition package RL introduced LSD, so I know that I'd probably not be considering a 2004.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Right, all Comp Package RL's have the LSD and Ladder Tach/Boost guage. Some were produced in 05, and the most are goign to be produced in 06. They owered the price of the 06's, so getting a comp package might be cheaper than you were expecting, and might serve as a better alternative than gettin the left over 05.

Differences between 2005 & 2006 that I have seen...

2006 has a slightly different radio... 2006 has foglights STANDARD...

In 2005, the foglights were only included with the competition package, along with the LSD and Boost Gauge / Ladder Tach...

In 2006, the competition package has the LSD and Boost Gauge / Ladder Tach...

LSD & Boost Gauge / Ladder Tach are NOT standard equipment for 2006. You still need to get the competition package.

A 2005 with competition package and a 2006 with competition package are going to be virtually identical with the exception of the radio... Oh yeah, I think the 2006 has a little trip computer thingy in the center above the radio where the 2005 has the ION logo... Pretty gay if you ask me, but it is a difference I noticed...

For the most part though, the cars are the same

nice, if I could find a deal like that right now, I'd take it, the only problem in this area is no dealers here have the redline, and if they do they only have like one. And since I'm goin to be looking for the 2005 model now, they probably won't have it with the necesssary competition package either heh.

was yours or without the competition package?

All I can say is good luck to you finding a discounted/used comp package redline at this time. If you do find one you'll probably still pay close to full price on it. Alternatively, one of our very own members is selling his redline with a boatload of mods done (including adding the LSD) to his vehicle for 18500. Might be an avenue for you to pursue.

that much of a problem eh? I was sort of expecting/afraid of that, but that's also why I'm not in a big rush and I'll wait it out :-D.

As for CSCC's for sale RL (I saw the posting earlier).
The Quaife, definite plus, and basically an extra set of rims and if you want to say like 1/2-1/4 bonus tires. Am I missing other mods? (I haven't checked out any of his other postings besides the for sale one). I mean that stuff together is nice, but 18,500 combined with him living on the other side of the country for me makes things a bit too expensive (for what would be the final cost of it all after everything was said and done I could probably just about go and buy a brand new 06 with the competition package for ALMOST the same price, a grand or 2 more maybe.)
