got some questions:

ok, so i was in a car accident and im not sure if they will total my srt or not. i wont find out till tomorrow, but there is some pretty nasty damage done. anyways, i just wanted to know the boards input on a couple things.

one of which, can the stock struts on the redline handle aftermarket lowering springs? or would i need to buy new struts as well? i ask because the other car i am considering is the srt-4 acr...they are both only a few dollars apart in price range, and i cant really decide.

i fell in love with the redline back in feb of this year, but saturn dropped my order because i wanted the comp. package, and they couldnt deliver, so i went with the srt, and fell in love with it. it seems i like to cheat on cars or something, but oh well.

anyhoo, now that the comp. pacakge wont be a hard thing to get, how does it handle on the road as a daily driver? any problems witht he redline? anything they changed in the 06 model year? how do the stock tires hold up in winter?

any info would be appreciated...but if it all works out, ill probably have one of the very few redlines in the kansas city area

I'll respond with what I know, I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me, but I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in there.

To the best of my knowledge all you would need is the aftermarket springs, I'm pretty sure the stock struts will be alright, but this is just what I've gathered from looking around, dont' even have a RL myself, but I'm very actively looking at them, just waiting for the right deal.

Daily driver, as per the fact when I test drove the RL I didn't get a good HARD testdrive out of it, I still got agood 15-30 minute test drive, the thing was super comfortable, predictable reactions to the gas, not overly torquey or jumpy.

As for problems, look around the boards, as with any new line of vehicle there are TSBs, Recalls, etc. Hopefully you have the patience to get them all worked out, there are things like the differents squeaks in the interior, the shifter knob falling off, etc, look around on the boards would be my suggestion.

06 model year they changed to add like a trip odometer somewhere in the console, and I'm pretty sure the tach and the fog lights are standard on 06 models now (correct me if I'm wrong), and someone on the boards had mentioned apparently the exhaust note is ever so slightly different between the years as well.

tires in the winter, from what I've gathered from others on the board, you're going to want to get some allseasons or snow tires for the winter.

Also biggest thing is make sure to have patience, if you're planning on modding the RL, still nto too much out there, but there will be options in time

Well, I live here in California, so the only winter driving I experience is rain. The stock tires can get flooded very quickly, so you must proceed through water with much caution. It's not dangerous, I just have to be careful in mine. Now I do not have a competition package, but I can assume there aren't any noticable changes in the suspension from mine. It rides very smooth, and tracts extremely well on the highway. I seem to have the most electronic troubles of anyone here, but nothing to take my car out of commision. I wouldn't trade it for any other car as it does everything I need it to. I personally would not recommend the srt-4 because they are stopping production on it, and I think that the value of getting a last model year vehicle will absolutley kill you at resale time (however long you keep your car for). With all the technology that new cars are constantly appearing with, chances are the next SRT will be much better than an 05, thus leaving you with an "old body style" srt. Also keep in mind if you do go with the RL, the incentives and financing options will help you if you ever get bored with the RL to get something else, lessening the "upside down" factor that you'll experience with any new car purchase. Hope this helps a little bit.

Stock winter tires blow, unless they've changed them.

Lowering springs seem to be fine on most of the cars, all the way down to 2" drop.

There are rear shock for the car, but not front struts that I know of.

Problems... depends on who you ask. Never had one myself, my sunroof switch is getting touchy though, so I suppose it's time to start the lemon law. heh...

I drive mine daily about 50 miles to and from work. Works great. Then I race it on weekends.

ahahahahahahah I think I hear that phrase thrown around more than anything else. I'm telling you by all the companies making the lemon law such an obvious 'right' of people, everyone thinks they can claim lemon law on just about anything in the world.

k, i have sprints and i have no probs what so ever. and the stock tires , i had no problem going thru rain, snow, hail, and everyother god forsaken storm, that can happen from CO to CA and Keebler i would try and wait till a better hood comes out before you snag up the CF b/c from what i hear of there are might gonna be some SICK hoods that could be comming out
