Question Thoughts to ponder

Well, I'm coming to the cross-roads of my time w/the Red Line. I've taken it in 4 times already for the "check engine light" and haven't been able to get any resolution. As much as I enjoy the car, there's something about having to deal with the problems I've experienced this long. I have considered an 05 GTO but wanted to get some opinions on it. I can get an 05 (they don't have any 06s as Australia doesn't put em out till its actually 06 imagine that) but with an employee program I can get into a GTO for the Employee
Price that has the MSRP for $32,295.00 for $29,576.73 and if it has 7,500 + miles take off an extra 15.5% (PEP 4) discount on top of that for a total price of $24,992.33 Does this seem like a good price for an 05 GTO w/standard transmission? I'm kind of curious as to what my insurance rate would be on a car like this though.... any thoughts?

Not sure about the pricing for them, but here I could've bought a 6.0 GTO and it would've been cheaper to insure than my RL is..

what are the codes its throwing? The check engine light doesnt slow the car down but it can lead to other events. The codes are they just like bank 1 lean or are they serious? The GTO is a nice car insurance and gas will cost some money as well as eating yourself out of the negative hole. Thats a hell of a price on the GOAT and I admire the car with the big engine but have you had any other problems with the car?

lets see, codes P1182, P0068 and that's just the last codes. It went into Reduced-power-mode each of the 4 times I took it back, one time it went into the reduced power mode w/the technician driving it back to me. They say they replaced the MAF sensor this last time. The time before they said it was possibly a dirty air filter but they checked (I had it replaced about 4 months ago) and it was clean and then they said it was possibly the cam position sensor recall that they state was probably not done correctly at the previous dealer. This last time I took it in was also because of some vibration during braking, they machined my rotors 3 times already so this time they just replaced them. I'm thinking if GM/Saturn can't fix this vehicle correctly and I can get them to buy it back through the Lemmon Law, a $25,000 GTO will probably be in the works.

The lemon law does not apply to you yet. You have a bunch of differnt problems there and they have addressed and fixed them. If you drove the car off the lot after they repair it thats thier consent of the job done. Im not being mean its just the truth. Best way to handle it is go to the sales manager and have a long talk. Have you done any intake mods on the car?

TXRLU, you have not done the Boost bypass mod have you? I would have them check the vacum hose and any seals on the intake tubing.. Both are related to air flow at the TB and SC inlet neither are related to the MAF. I think WOP has a message in here somewhere relating to one of the above codes. If you have put any mods on the intake take a real close look at it. 068 and 1182 codes are the ones that we normaly see with the boost mod...

Well, I sought some legal advice from a friend of mine who practices law. He said generally in the state of TX, if they try to make 4 or more attempts to fix the same problem and its under a certain mileage I can get an arbitrator to hear my case. Lets see, I've taken it in 4 times for this item, 3-4 times for the brakes, a couple of times for the weird gearing jerks, 2 times for the shift knob popping off, 2 times for the seat-pass through squeaking, 2 times for the back panel popping loose. Not all these items were done separately, when I had the major concerns (i.e. engine going into reduced-power-mode) I'd ask them to look at some of the other items.

its funny but actually I've kept from doing any mods on this car whatsoever 1 because I don't think anything has been out on the market enough to have been reliability tested over the long haul, 2 I haven't had much confidence in my car from the get-go so I thought it would be crazy for me to consider any kind of modifications that would make it easier for a dealer to try to deny me service (which I had even from the first time I tried to get a free oil change w/my maintenance agreement contract). I think from the get-go I've had a bad experience with Saturn. Sad though because the car is a nice driving little car, if it would stay working properly for any amount of time....

It is a air flow/sensor problem at the intake. Whatever is happening, the TB and the SC inlet sensors do not like it. I would really have them check from the top of the airbox to the supercharger inlet including the throttle body and associated vacuum tubing and hardware.

Theres a filter or a fitment problem with the MAF. They need to actually look at it make sure the o rings are in place.

As well the car can be lemoned with a good laywer but you against a giant. You may want to just talk it over with some one higher up and tell them to buy it back.
