Where is the oil filter?

Well as the title says where the hell is the oil filter in this god blessed car?

Hehe... it's on the TOP of the motor. It's behind the throttle body, and slightly below. It looks like a big, round, black cap, on the front, driver's side corner of the block.

it's a paper element.. it's not a metal cased filter... you have to remove the black cad which is located under the s/c and throttle body.. the cap requries a 32 mm socekt to fit over the top part and remove the cap.. then you just repleace the element and reverse the steps

Ok well its done!!!! . Who the fuck puts a Fing oil filter there (GM). Thats right up there with the opti spartk being behined the water pump on the lt1. To think they make so much money to desine this shit but can use comon sences.

Well it is in roughly the same spot as on the 2.2 (and 2.4, i assume) ECOTEC's, the difference is we have a mighty sexy blower sitting on top of our engines. It is really easy to change on an normal ion.

I have a 1 3/4 (or 1 1/4, i don't remember) inch socket, to a universal joint adapter, to a 12 inch extension bar that I use to change it out. You slip the socket on the cap with your finger tips, then drop the extenstion bar down and lock it in the socket and then it is easy (well, easier). I recommend you get a setup like that. After a while you can do it while the engine is still hot. It is a little tricky, but not impossible.
