Thumbs up Not exactly a Dyno....

....but I was quite pleased with the results I did get from a G-tech pro that I have. I did a few runs to check the HP rating and my best run was a measured 198HP at the wheels. The other runs weren't very spectacular and were on an incline. Anyone familiar with the G-tech knows that the readings are more accurate on a straight even smooth road. At any rate I'm very pleased to report that the G-tech pro is close to what other people get on their dyno runs. So based on about 10%-15% drivetrain loss, that puts the HP rating somewhere around 217-227. I'll report more numbers possibly next weekend when I run with a few cobalt SS' and other Red Lines.

I swear by my gtec as well. Run on and those numbers sound very close to correct.

I was on the Cobalt SS forums, and they show HP ratings of 220+ and I start to wonder if their dyno readings were at the wheels or at the crank. Anyone know for sure? Seems a little weird that their dyno readings would be so much more pronounced than ours. Oh well I'm still happy with my 198 HP at the wheels. I'll definitely do more testing though with some Cobalt SS guys too just for good measure.

How can someone dyno at the crank? That is unless they took their motor out and strapped it on an engine dyno.

There are lots of Red Line dynos in the 220 range. Your 198 is one of the lowest I've seen but it is on a G-tech not a dyno.

Well not dyno at the crank, but adjust their numbers to reflect drivetrain loss etc etc........

The big difference there, is that the G-tech takes aerodynamics into account. The dyno dosen't. If you were to 'adjust' that, I imagine you'd see it in the 210+ range... It's also not doing much adjusting or anything. It's just telling you that if the car weighs X, and your made it to Y in Z ms, then you're hp has to be A.
