Question 2008 Redline???

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

, Criticism
The ION has not reached the success or the reviews that its predecessor, the Saturn S Series, has recieved. The ION's interior design has been panned in reviews (notably the center-mounted instrument cluster, which causes the driver to take his or her eyes off the road frequently), and has suffreed from poor reliability (according to Consumer Reports, the ION is one of the lowest rated cars in term of their reliability serveys). The ION also has not lived up to sales expectations, as it has not sold even a fifth of the numbers of the Saturn S Series, and its slow sales have caused GM to halt production for 2 weeks, to allow stock to clear out. According to Autoline Detroit, the Saturn ION is one of the worst selling cars on the market, right above the Mazda B-Series pickup truck, which is currently the slowest-selling vehicle on the North American market, with dealers having over a 6 month stock. The poor acceptance of the ION, which is Saturn's core model, has put Saturn's future in jeopardy, which GM is hoping to fix by moving the brand upmarket with vehicles such as the Saturn Aura.

,,,,,,,2008
The ION will be redesigned for 2008 with new styling by Opel, which will introduce the similar Opel Astra for 2010. There will be no 2007 model. Production will move from the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee to GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant, where it will be built alongside the Chevrolet Cobalt, a fellow Delta car.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE ION REDLINE?

i don't believe this story at all... first off the ion sells great.. sales from the past 5 months have been up nation wide over 40% from time last year.. which were also up over the year before that.. now granted the ion is no S-series but then again the S was out for 12 years.. this is just the ions 6 year and it hasn't gotten the body change the S did in the mid 90's.. ahh well the 07 redline tho should begin being built in about 3 to 4 months

I agree...I saw this posted once before, or I might have even read that BS on wickipedia. Just an FYI wickipedia is not a credible source for ANY information. Do this for your self in the future, when you are reading through another wickipedia page skip every 3 lines, forget what you read, and then you might have some credible information. Just my .02

I have found some useful information on wickipedia but this is not one of those time. The claims defy credibiity.
I think Ion sells on the order of 100K units a year. I seriously doubt S-series ever sold 500K units a year (more than accord or camry).
Ion is hardly Saturn's "core" vehicle. Vue and Relay sell in similar numbers. You hardly see any on the lot at my dealer.
Mazda B-series the lowest seller? Get real. How about Insight, Viper, H1, NSX, etc.

Yup, '07 is the end of the ION. I'm sure GM will fill the void eventually with some other model, but it won't be built in Lordstown unless the Cobalt changes as well.

That's okay. As long as I don't dog mine out, it will be worth bucks in a few years.
