2004 vs 2006

Hi guys my first post :P

Buying a redline yah! why? becuase I live in toronto and I have lots of asian friends, soooooo .... I plan to pwn there rice wagons! ... I was gonna go new 06 and get the stage kits... but after reading though the bell/sell threads I'm looking into a couple there.. sadly I am not a car guy since I have been driving a jeep for ( who cares how long ). anyways, are there any major differences between the 04 redline and the 06? i was gonna spend 25k + tax canadian$ on a new one ... but used I can save 10k .. and use that in upgrades ( hopefully some of you pros could tell me best how to spend it ^^ )

thanks eh! ( omg he said eh! )

the later 04's are pretty much the same as all others. i have heard things about early 04's having more problems, and even some early 04's haveing a few different saab parts that the later ones didnt have, not sure on those though. I have a stock 04 that so far has pulled on 2 05 RL's and an 06 ss/sc. so if your looking at a used 04 that will save you 10k , as long as the miles arent too high(id say 30 thousand or less) and the carfax report checks out decent, i would go for the 04 and use that extra cash on some mods.

What about 05s? 04s had issues, most of which a lot of people have had the issues corrected by the dealership. You can get a modded 05 right here for $17,800 with less than 17,000 miles

The differences between the later build date '04's and newer models are very minor except for the optional LSD. My stock '04 has put a hurtin on a couple of Cobalt SS's two of which had at least an intake.

Same here. I have an early 04 (well, born in june 04), and I havn't had any problems. BUT, there are many members here that HAVE had major issues, and wound up getting rid of their 04's, so really check it out and be careful of your choice. The 04's came with a shitty tune from the factory, so the dealer needs to do a re-flash to the ECU to make them run better. Just be sure to test drive the hell out of it for as long as possible to try and detect any problems. Welcome to the forums, and good luck!
