Finally, a good day of driving...

I've had this damn car for almost 2 months now, and have yet to get in a race with anything worthwhile. Finally yesterday, I came to the stoplight line with an Imprezza next to me. Now, I'm not a huge street racer or anything, but when the light turned green I sure took off a little faster and louder then was needed. I saw him get on it a little and he pulled up behind me at the next light. So I took off in a similar manner, and just as I went into second I saw his whole front end pick up and he started coming up on my ass, I have developed a great fondness for second gear, and as soon as he front end lifted, I dropped the hammer and off we went. Needless to say this is not a good 'race', only got to just over 60, but I was pulling on him slowly. Enough so, that at the next light he swerves next to me and starts motioning for me to put the window down. He's like 'Is that thing stock??', 'Yup', I tell him, 'It's a pretty new car.' He's like, 'I've never seen a Saturn's rear-end for more than a split second while I pass him.' He asks what's under the hood and I tell him that it's a 2.0L Supercharged. He just kinda paused for a few seconds, and said 'Did you say a supercharged Saturn?'. I confirm this fact for him and then told him it cost around $18,000, and he almost puked from the look on his face. Maybe not a kill, but he's gonna tell 10 people about the Saturn that he couldn't pass on the way home.

Next came an Infinity FX45, one of those damn SUV/Crossover bullshit things... I hate cross-overs.. buy one or the other damn it... There are these roads around here, lots of em, where 4 lanes drop to 2 lanes, and during rush-hour or early evening it's like a 0-70 drag strip, great for some spirited driving. It' almost universal that if you get into the right lane, the one that ends, when there's a car in the left lane, you're asking for a quick run. So, people are pulling in behind me in the left lane, and here comes that one guy in the Infinity. Lines up next to me, looks over, and I could swear that he turned his nose up at me. The turn lane arrows go yellow, which is damn near like a staging tree, and we both hit it HARD. We both even looked at each other for a second, and he had quite the upset look as the supercharger hit at about 3500 in second gear and I pulled on him like he was driving a Geo Tracker. I thought for sure he would get me off the line with the AWD and the fact that it was cold as hell out, but I think I'm getting the hang of this power/tranny/clutch finally.

I love the two lane metered on ramps aroound here. Just like the dragstrip. Tons of fun to legally race to the cruisng speed of the merging highway! When I had my Olds Alero v6 I had blast. Not so much fun with a 130hp 4cyl though...

LOL!!! Awesome.

The word is spreading fast about our cars. Won't be "sleepers" for much longer. My trunk is debadged though so if they wanna know what my car has got, they have to ask. That is, if they can catch up.
