flowmaster Mufflers(i don't have a cat back) give like 5 crank horsepower, they don't do much I noticed more by gutting my air box and bypassing my throttle body than I did from the exhaust... getting beat by 6 tenths of a second in an 1/8th mile is not "hanging with" anything, hell its only 660 feet... Now lets look at the perks of things, Redlines run good for the amount of horsepower they have and the amount of money they cost and I have no doubt that with a complete exhaust system, cold-air induction, header, and intake they will be very strong... As long as parts are affordable all signs are pointing to go as far as this car becoming a major player in the Sport Compact World...

As far as f-body knowledge, I think we'll just put the f-body argument away from here and I'll keep that strictly to Ls1tech.com(I can argue f-bodies with the best of them)... I'm not here to cause problems I have respect for both cars and plan on keeping my f-body when I purchase one of these...

Good, no place for F-body arguements, there's nothing to argue, they are one of, if not the best, car platforms that have ever been released. What I'm trying to point out to you, is the fact that almost any moderately powered RWD car should beat most high-powered FWD cars in an 1/8 mile race, due the the signifigant advantages that the RWD car has on launch. I still have a hard time launching from a stop and getting power down 3 months later, it's not a drag car in anyway, and was never meant to be. If you were next to me at a stop light, and were going around 15-20 when we hit the gas together, I assure you, it would suprise the hell outta you. Would I win? I doubt it very highly, would I be right there with you the whole time? Yes. For a lot of people here, drag racing on a track is either new, or completely foreign to them. What would a car length or 2 be on a track at 100mph? A decent time difference, from the driver's seat of your new pocket rocket, it's hanging right with that car. That's all anyone here is trying to point out. I mean, you were racing a FWD one-wheel-wonder at an 1/8 mile strip. If you didn't beat it by a good amount, then that's pathetic!

actually i believe these cars will make great drag racers once the aftermarket is present... I mean the 2.0L Ecotech can hold around 450 horses on the bottom end... True they werent neccesarily built for drag racing but mine will be...

I like the guys from other forums that came here to say complete crap in defense of GP's and GTO's that have only posted a few times on here, probably in the same circumstance as this one. They're the type of guys that don't do their research and just go by mostly word of the mouth that 'their friend did this, so it must be true every time' instead of actually doing it themselves, or if they have raced, only once or twice. Good argument going on otherwise here.

I'm not sure how much you've checked on the Ecotec, but they are building monsters with this block. Stock rods are the weakest link in the chain right now. The lack of a standard LSD is the only thing holding this car back from making good 1/4 mile runs. I'm a road racer myself, or would like to be, will be racing this spring and summer actually. So I apologize for downing the 1/8 mi track, but I hate 1/4 mile champions, ya know, my car runs a faster 1/4 so it's faster than your car. I like to get out and accel, brake, turn and really DRIVE my whole car. I used to do some good 'ol Florida 1/4 mile runs, in an abandoned subdivision back in Ft Myers, good times. Just not my cup of tea.

it happens, my dad's is apparantly a factory dog, then engies dyno all over the place, but tend to be above 300whp by a decent margin, I assume the GTO is the same as its teh same drivetrain in 04

HAHAHA ...wow touchy forum......okay come on now....I've never drove a GTO or a REDLINE ...I was strictly goin on the facts of the cars ...REDLINE 4 banger 240 crank HP VS GTO V8 350 crank HP...Honestly if you didn't own or know much about the redlines how do you think the outcome of this race would be ....I guarantee you would think the GTO would walk the redline and continue to walk all the way up to 100MPH .....Im very confused about your cars ....are you making all you HP at low RPM's or high RPM's....it could make a big difference in racing certain cars.

thats another thing, the powerband on the LS1 is crazy... Dyno show that at 2000 rpm 300 ft. lbs. of torque becomes present(and continues to rise until 5800)... So no matter if its from a dig or roll the LS1 is pretty hard to handle...

Here is a question, what is the warranty on the Redline? I know a lot of Saturns have like 100,000 mile warranties but I'm guessing the redline is 3 yr./36,000 mile? Is that it?

If I may interject, no one here is being "touchy" about an assenine post where someone with "limited" knowledge on our cars is calling out our cars. The fact that you have no experience with what a Red Line is and isn't capable of is what makes your posts ignorant to say the least. When someone here posts their experience with their RL against another car that is OBVIOUSLY quicker than the Red Line, they aren't necessarily saying that a Red Line is FASTER than that particular car, but they are demonstrating how surprised they were that the obviously quicker car didn't seem that much quicker. This is the beauty of the Red Line, its by no means the fastest or the quickest car out there, but it sure will surprise the hell out of some jackass that thinks their car is the greatest thing since the combustion engine. Case in point, I surprised the hell out of a BMW 330i the other day. No I didn't say I made him feel like he was driving in reverse, but I guarantee you that the owner of that BMW was PISSED that he couldn't (AND DIDN'T) pull away from a Saturn. Now post any doubts that you may have, but just ask yourself if you have enough experience with both cars to make a sensible intelligent post, not just the ever so moronic, "You think you can beat a BMW 330i? (dueling banjos playing in the background)"

Standard is 5/60,000 but you can opt for the 3/36,000 for cost.
