That's exactly why you should understand what someone is saying. If you can show me the spot where he claims to have done anything other than kept close to the bumper, let me know. Like I explained to ThatChevyGuy, two car lengths behind a GTO on a stopwatch is a whuppin. From the driver's seat of a car priced $20,000 less than a brand new rendition of the car that started the whole musclecar craze, it something for us to talk about. Did you ever think that you'd walk into a SATURN forum and have to have this conversation? You're a vertern of forums I'm sure, you know this kinda talk goes on all the time.

Again, no one wants to say that the GTO is not capable of walking all over the Redline, especially with aftermarket equipment. We're just constantly suprised by the power that comes outta this thing, and so would you if you rode in one. I'm a huge GM guy, that's why I have a Redline and not a Honda, the GTO was my first choice, but with some debt that needs to be paid, the insurance rate, and the gas, I had to go a cheaper route. I own a '90 Camaro and a '77 Vette, so I'm not putting down any thing about a GM musclecar. Go test drive a Redline, just once, and you'll see what were talking about.

As far as the horsepower goes, boost starts just past idle with the supercharger as you guys probably know. It's hitting 12lbs of boost by 4,000ish rpms, and somewhere around 3,500 things start picking up. From 4,000 to 6,000 though, it's a rocket, and it spends a good bit of time in that rpm range. So starts hitting pretty good at 1/2 of the range. Runs real hard from 3,500 to the 6,500 redline. The tranny is equal spaced so the upshift drops us right back to 4,000 and full boost.

more like 10K less, as GTO's are low 30's and Redlines are priced at low 20's

although, I have seen redlines go for as low as 14k new, and know someone who practically stole a new GTO off the lot for 18K, but around here most 04's ar eleaving lots for low 20k's right now, bout sticker on RL's

an doh yeah sp00ner, I hope we can hit the same trackday or something sometime this year, I am getting antsy for the racing season to start

Just go test drive one. That will end all or most of your confusion.

It's not your sister's Ion.

I wanna hit either Union Grove or Joliet and get a couple of 1/4 mile runs down. On the 18th I'm going to a meeting for my road racing with the Midwest Sports Car Council. I'm mainly a road racer, but if there's nothing planned I'll do some 1/4 mile runs, just not a big fan of it.

Ya you guys are right I busted in without knowledge of the car and it was wrong. However I have looked over the forum and am pretty damn impressed with what you cars can do........jus think once you start modding ....I heard those engines have the potential of getting up to 425 HP prett easily Imagine 425 HP in your REDLINE....OMG

So did you beat the 330i BMW or he jus couldn't beat you how he probably expected to ......what year was it because from what I know now about your cars I would think you could take one DEPENDING on they year. Am I right or not ....please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right, it's kinda hard to find a BMW that wants to get into a short street drag though. I had a guy the second day I owned my car that had that 'look', but not much more. It was wet out too, and without the LSD hard accel in the wet is not easy.

No worries about busting in, we're a touchy group. We drive high-performance Saturns. You have no idea how much shit we get either in forums, or in real life, from people that call us a bunch of liars for claiming to have beaten anything faster than an oil burning 1984 Honda Accord. I would also guess that we're a pretty young crowd all-in-all, and the testosterone gets flowing quickly. I'm usually the first to shoot my mouth off when I should keep it shut! I've been behind Saturn since they won the SSC class with the 2000(1999?) Saturn SC2. Yet, everyone that I talked to told me I was an idiot for buying a Saturn. Then the Redline broke the class record, shattered it really, on the salt flats. I tell people that I drive a fast Saturn and they think fast means 'faster than other Saturns'. Even other GM people think that it's a POS, or at least I get the feeling alot of them do! Hell, the people in the Cobalt forums love to put it down left and right, and they're about to buy the same exact car!

No question that we're a touchy lot though, I find no big suprise in it though. Different kind of car, different kind of car company, different kind of drivers!

AHAHA ....the cobalt forum is dissing you guys.....wow do they not know the cobalt and the REDLINE are the same cars jus with different bodies...or "shells" if you will. Also I to am a huge GM guy.....I love GM ...probably because my dad worked for them since I was born. Also Saturn is a fairly new division for GM so I say the REDLINE is just the beggining for saturn and performance......this car is gonna change how people look at saturn for time to come. It definatley changed how I look at saturn now .....I have great respect for your cars.....

get used to it guys... f-body owners have been arguing which is better since the beginning of time...

I went and test drove a Redline today, i'm leading toward them right now... I mean the Cobalt is going to have such a huge markup its first year it won't even be funny... I was actually pleasantly surprised after my test drive... I pay the TA off next Summer(July I believe) and there should actually be an aftermarket by then so I'm definitely going to look into a Redline...
