Redline VS RX-8 at the track

These cars are really slow on the 1/4 mile. I mean all the have for them is the 60 foot. They can hit 2.1s easily. But 15.6 average with best of 15.3 @ 88 mph isn't too impressive. That was a few weeks ago, forgot to mention it. The Redline was making it look really bad.

They very nice cars but I wouldn't purchase one just because of the engine.

The car looks georgeous I don't know why they didn't make it more powerful, fuel economy perhaps. The 250 HP advertised is a shame. They dyno at 190 hp I believe and no balls whatsoever.

Rotary + turbo = insane.
Triple rotors + turbo = holy crap !

LOL fuel economy :P the car gets like 17 mpg for the average owner . I think after the first MY they fixed teh issues and it's dynoing at like 210-220 now, but nonetheless not all too impressive

Whoa...I think GReddy did the turbo on one of the RX8s in F&F: Tokyo Drift and the thing only put down 198rwhp!!

Those cars are POS's... I beat one on the road course last week, by quite a bit... They just recalled like ALL of them too... the apex seals on them just aren't meant for 100,000 miles of beating on it...

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/24/m...call-the-rx-8/

Quote:
In yet another installment of the Mazda RX-8 customer satisfaction drama, we can confirm that the manufacturer will announce a voluntary recall on 2004, 2005 and some 2006 model year RX-8s. Mazda has confirmed to us that owners will be receiving notices in the next month or so, as the company is doing a staggered roll-out across the country.

Mazda has also told us that the repairs needed for each RX-8 will vary based on tests performed by each dealer. Automotive News is reporting that each car will receivea vacu um test to check for oil leaks, and those vehicles suffering from sealing problems will receive new Renesis side-port rotary engines. Robert Davis, head of product development and quality at Mazda, told Automotive News that the company does not want dealers tearing into the engines, and instead will send the defective motors to its remanufacturing plant in North Carolina. Each vehicle will also receive a check of its starting system, as that supposedly has been problematic. Davis described the campaign as "white-glove treatment".
Mazda claims that the problem is brought on by hot climates or the usage of synthetic oil. If the oil is allowed into the combustion chamber, it eventually reaches the catalytic converter and causes a malfunction of that emissions-control device.

those things are slow..

expensive, slow and unreliable.

if your not fast, why want a unreliable car?

twin turbo rx7's are just as unreliable but a hella of a lot faster.. so it's okay..

RX8 is junk IMO..
