Post WRX STi even up

Coming around an onramp to I405. I was doing about 65 and he caught up with
me pretty quickly so I kicked it up to 80 before the onramp. He kept up so I
knew he wanted some. Coming out of the turn I went WOT and it was on. 80 to
120 dead even all the way. We both turned on 195th and I motioned him up. I
said, "That thing's pretty fast. What is it?" (it was 4AM and dark) Him, "An STi." Me, "Really! Was I pulling on you?" Him, "Nah. It was pretty even." Me, "I want to meet up with you sometime." Him, " Cool!"

My $20,000 POS Saturn had just given a $34,000 WRX STi that walks on water
an even run for his money and he didn't say squat about my car.

Maybe he was surprised he kept up.

Nice, but I hate when people say this

.

Our cars may not be expensive, but they are hardly P'sOS.

The STI has a slightly better top end then a stock RL, STI's generally trap around 100mph stock while redlines are more what 96-97mph on average? But in the real world that is very little, I run my friend in his bone stock wrx all the time and from a 20mph to 70mph race it all comes down to who hits the gas first, but at the track his best was a 14.7@91 and mine was a 13.9@99, so on a track those numbers seem like alot but to hit the gas .8 seconds after him is probably almost un noticable when racing from a roll on the street.

Wonder if STI was stock? The leader of one of the car clubs I mod for have an '02 WRX with ill modz (Turbo, Fuel, ECU, FMIC), traps 250whp and runs 12.800 1/4 ET.

you have never gon into limp mode for just driving the car?
your clutch hasnt ever sliped to the point it aint movin?
cruise control worked when it wanted too not when i did.

An '02 STi eh? Thats odd considering that STi's came to the states in '04, and I highly doubt your friend had an '02 STi imported over from Japan. Hech, as much as that costs he probally could've bought two NEW STi's. I think your story is a bit tarnished, haha.

I beat the living shit out of my car..the clutch went out and that's been my only real problem 'till we used HPTuners to fix the MAF freqency that caused my CEL.

I still beat the shit out of the car..nothing else has broke..when I had my interior in..it stayed in and didn't rattle. I've never had limp mode when I wasn't trying to get it (open dump+full throttle+jackrabbit starts = limp mode btw..for testing purposes)

Tranny doesn't leak..nor does oil.

and my cruise control works just fine..

Guess mine isn't in the POS pile after all..
