Cool '99 Mustang GT eats procharged 2.2 exhaust fumes

Yes folks you heard it right.

It was an innocent drive tonight, after getting the A/F tuned - the DFMU works like a charm, 11.5 across the board.

Kevin and I hopped in to head out a gas station as I'm running a little low (imagine that ) and as we're pulling out towards the road oh what do we see, a yellow mustang gt with black stripes, fender stripe, and we could hear an exhaust (at least). Kevin tells me the guy is (yet another) cocky mustang driver so I line up next to him and don't really wanna do anything too drastic as I'm still getting used to the car right now.

Anyway I take off in first and just get up to speed but I hear the GT go high rev for the jump so I just stomp on it and fuckin holy shit! I hear the GT chirp 2nd - at least a car length behind me. we run through 2nd and I'm just putting lengths on him like his shit's broke.

Needless to say, I'm lovin the SpeedMafia Stage 2

One down, several more poor, unsuspecting souls to go

Oh I HAVE to add this part as it's freaking crazy.

After this kill we're rolling down the highway and notice during a 3rd gear pull that we're only picking up 1lb of boost! Immediately I'm thinking something just went terribly wrong so we turn back and head home.

we pop the hood in the garage, start looking around, and see that one of the intercooler pipes has blown off!

Kevin said he thought he saw 7lb of boost on the 3.5" pulley (at 6000ft above sea level, mind you) when I was at the top of first. Needless to say we tightened down everything just a bit more after this startling revelation.

The crazy thing is that even w/ the pipe connector blown off, the pipes were still halfway lined up and I was STILL pushing 1lb of boost.

fuck me runnin' - sea level is going to haul ass!

I believe when he gets home he will be doing a street tune on the rich side till he can get it to the dyno to lean her out for his altitude and boost levels.

As for the kill....I was pretty amazed old boy in the mustang even wanted some and first gear pull was very hard and climbed very strong through the RPM band and 2nd gear was coming way to fast and for BC3Tech finding his new HP he handled it like a champ and slammed her into second just as the mustang shifted (about half a car behind) and after hooking up (pretty cool night 68 degrees) BC3TECH pulls on the stang and the mustang was trying very hard to stay side by side and could not pull as BC3TECH was pulling on him and after the stang could not pull in 2nd gear we went into third and BC3Tech stayed in her and the stang just gave up...

As we tuned on 5-6psi here in Denver, this same pulley should be fun at 9-10psi and if he wants to get a little crazy he has a 2.95 pulley and belt he can swap out for a little more boost and fun!

All in all it was a great install everything went well and smooth and I don’t know how long BC3Tech is going to be in an ION as he might of fell in love with a pretty slow ... , and quite 69 camaro SS we looked at over at a friends shop. Great meeting BC3TECH and hope you have a safe ride home!!!!!!

haha - you own a restaurant? Free food would be cool! lol. Seriously though - as Kevin will tell you the guys that have treated me well w/ my car always get mad props when I'm talking to people about it, and of course rep on the outside of my ride. just check out my cardomain page and you'll see what I mean.
As far as sound clips go I don't have any real good ones yet but we did find the Procharger "whistle" at about 2350rpm in 4th and man... I'd love to pass some ricer w/ his window down at that speed, muaahahahaha
I'll be in the process today of taking a ton of photos of the installed product for those that are curious and will try to get a video in there. It won't highlight the whine though, unfortunately, as you have to be in gear for that but I could maybe take the car out and put the windows down - still though the dyno run should be the most entertaining
But yeah as Kevin (SMP) said above, I have street tuned it at right around 11 or less A/F for now, still have a bit more to go, but should be alright if I need to get on an onramp or something. Am going to *try* (haha) to stay outta any beatings for the time being. Unless, of course, they ask for it
