cobalt SS kill

I killed a Cobalt SS in my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, on street tires, with a bad fuel pressure regulator.

I beat him by a couple bus lengths.

The owner of the cobalt ss said I shoudl hook up with his friend who just opened up a shop, since his friend knows how to build cars, and can hook me up on a really sweet exhaust.

true story actually, but short enough to save you all the dramatic details.

LSJ for sure. The guy followed me to a gas station, so I had to find out, and see I did. He also had to add that he had me off the start, go figure.

I even told him he should meet me at the track for a rematch. He never showed, probably for the better, he would've lost at the line, at 60ft, at the 1/8, at the 1/4......

I'm still waiting for someone to line up with me at the drag strip. There's no GTP guys in Vegas even worth lining up with.

I gotta know what all you've done to the quad. lol. I've seen so many problems with them, I'd be scared to drive a car with one.

if you're curious as to what the problem years were, I'll let you know very quickly, how to make a quad4 live a long healthy life.

Make sure it is NOT a 2.3 quad 4 SOHC.... Yes they came in SOHC flavours. This is the one motor that was doomed to kill headgaskets and destroy heads.

2.3L DOHC quad4 motors w/ head casting 086 had some issues also w/ headgasket failure. Easy remedy that people know of, well those in the know was to just use a Felpro headgasket.

Another thing about older quad 4's, you can rag on them, but you have to in turn take care of them a lil bit. Redline Water Wetter, after running the car hard give it a chance to cool off a touch before shutting her down. Also give her a minute or two to warm up.

My quad is actually the newer 2.4L twin cam. I'm using a 2001 2.4L head, and a 1998 2.4L block. The huge difference? They're just a different year. Felpro OEM replacement headgasket, gm headbolts. Some good port n polish, swapped the valves out to stainless steel replacements and bronze guides. Tossed in an intake cam from a 1995 2.3L quad 4, and an exhaust cam from a 1993 2.3L quad 4. I'm using a 2.3L High Output *HO* intake manifold, right now I just swapped in an ls1 throttle body. Bottom end is 9.5:1 JE slugs, Eagle rods, balanced. SPEC stage 3 clutch. Garrett GT30xxR turbo *xx forget the last two numbers of the turbo*, TiAL 38mm wastegate, TiAL blow off valve, ebay intercooler, 2.5downpipe, cat delete, 3inch turbo back exhaust w/ APEXi N1 muffler, GMPP S/C reflash for the 2.4L, hptuners, 750cc injectors, installing an AEM universal adjustable fuel regulator soon, intank Racetranix (actually they use a walbro pump) F-body LS1 fuel pump upgrade, MSD DIS2, 1 step colder fire things, black magic, 24.5x8.5x15 racemaster slicks, A/C delete.......................... and she's so far held up...

was that enough? is it believable that i can keep a quad boosted and alive? I can't believe it either.
Wait until I get my hands on an eco.
